Have to join this thread, as I am a very clutterfilled person! As is my OH! So massive problems! However, I keep trying to tiday and today I managed to sort my junk drawer out and throw away about half of it :)

    How you all doing?

I've been unwell for a week or so and what with dd being off school and me working extra shifts, I've not got a lot done tbh. :(

I'm plodding on though - got dd(8)'s room done and I'm very pleased with it.

Now dd(17) has decided she wants hers done for her birthday...

I'm supposed to be sanding the woodwork in the hallway at the moment but I've decided to have a break until I fetch dd from school (I hate starting something and then having to stop!)

Is the exchange student still with you mupette? Has it gone ok?

Yes it is now week 2 and they went back to school today.

He is a shy boy, but it has taken a week for him to settle in and be more talkative.
He should be flying home on Saturday...... but.... he might not.. depends on airport etc.
I have worried and fretted, have i given him enough food, is he having enough to drink, why doesn't he want to use the phone and ring his parents, is he comfortable on the blow up bed...

he speaks to his parents on-line so that's ok

I can honestly say that it has been an expensive week, even with me play scourge
down to my last £5.00 today, thank god it's benefit pay day tomorrow,

Anyone thinking of doing this in the future, just be aware of how expensive it is.

No help from the organisers for school dinners or bus, basically was told you wanted to do this you have to pay it.

So they caught the bus today in to school and i picked them up, although the weather is that nice i hope they want to walk tomorrow.

Crutches, it sounds as though you have really done well!

Mupette, I hope this week has gone well for you - has your guest gone home yet, or has the ash cloud meant that you have him for longer?

As for me, well.... I'm sure I was ill on Wednesday. I woke up with the desire to clean! Definitely something wrong there! I just wanted to get on with sorting out my kitchen cupboards. Counting a double cupboard as two singles, I have eighteen single cupboards (I hope that makes sense!). Anyway, I emptied and cleaned ten of them, sorting out stuff as I went along. I found receipts from 2002 :o, cheque books from a joint account when I was married (we split up five years ago), and so many mugs and glasses that I'm not surprised I couldn't fit anything else into the cupboards!

Some of the stuff was binned/recycled, other stuff went into the charity bag (which is now a permanant fixture in my downstairs bathroom). The rest is stuff that my daughter wants for when she moves out (that won't be for a couple of years, so it has been moved into a corner of the garage).

Only eight more overflowing cupboards to go :(
  • Kingfisher - that should be a big smile at the end - ONLY 8 to go:T.
And well done crutches - every bit counts doesn't it.

I am very busy with other short term committments over the next month, as I have been the last 6 weeks, so although really wanting to do more I am having to force myself not to, as I only have so much energy in the day and others things have to be a priority at the mo.

Mupette - I hope over all the 2 weeks have been a sucess and you have been left too strapped for cash.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • I wonder if anyone else is like me. I am the most untidy person in the world, find it quite difficult to put things away as I use them (hate structure) but also HATE mess. As has been said on this thread, I get tense just looking at mess. I tend to be quite busy but with one teen with ASD and a four year old I find it difficult to finish jobs. However I have started clearing out a large cupboard upstairs (all the children's clothes go in there as they become too small, hopefully in age relevant bags but its stacked up rather. I'll be selling some on ebay and giving some stuff away on Freegle.

Most people who know me know I get very uncomfortable if they just pop in as I relax a lot easier if the place looks civilised and tidy lol. So they've learned to phone first (not that I get that many visitors.., probably why lol).

If anyone here needs good quality baby clothes, let me know lolol.., I can give them away.

    Hi All

Yes our student sucessfully flew home yesterday evening.

It was a good 2 weeks, although i am now skint.

But as promised to myself i will be back to declutter tomorrow, and start packing things that are not being used, for the day in the not to distant future that i will be moving.

Treated myself to some of the lovely french chocolates last night that he bought over, normally i think french chocolate is yuck, but these were mmmmmm

I'm hoping to get on with more decluttering later, but I've just woken up and I've got to get the kids from their grnadparents in a bit. (I'm not lazy, BTW, it's just that I'm up four times a night with my disabled son, so I catch up on my sleep when the kids see their dad and grandparents at weekends)
