Mr Cow you are so right.Brighton belle I'm in my 40's and can't say no (hence a large family!;) ) Exspendaholic we must try harder to say no!:)
Well, for me, I came to realise not saying no was affecting my health. I know it is hard to change a set dynamic with people you have know for a long time. It helped that I moved away and started over so set up new relationships on this basis.
Well done on getting a little more done!:)

ok i've had a few days rest.

Last night persuaded OH to hang some pictures for me so my living room looks loads better, mostly de cluttered, ok i cheated a little things are boxed up and in my bedroom (french exchange student has no need to go in my bedroom)

just washing doors and door frames and i think we are almost there.

But going to rest this afternoon, just had a CT scan lunchtime, that injection stuff is disgusting, even cleaning my teeth doesn't take the taste away.

When I retired I started decluttering and found getting rid of books the hardest bit. I decided to give away the ones with the smallest print! Looking at my bookshelves, it's time I found another strategy.

I've just put 2 printers on freecycle, so hopefully I'll be shot of them tomorrow night.

I've sorted out a stack of paperwork today (not all of the stuff - it seems to breed! - but at least it's a start). My paper recycling bag is looking rather full now. I've also spent quite a bit of time doing essential paperwork that really should have been done before now, so my mind is a bit less cluttered with worry as well!

Living room done, also managed to get to buy some new nets for the windows looks loads better now, got DS room to do to accommodate the visitor, looked at the spare duvet and realised that it needs a damn good wash, no laundrettes around for miles as they only cost about £5, dry cleaning not worth it so dragged DS to sainsburys this afternoon and got a new duvet, and a small clothes rail for visitor to hang clothes up on, as DS wardrobe has no spare room.

week and a half to go and not too much left to do, just don't look in my bedroom... thats where i hid everything

  • There is a thread; the great declutter, where you can give updates on all your incomings and outgoings; can't remember which forum it is but you can find it via my profile if you check my posts.

Anyway, I used to be a terrible hoarder; I have over 100 pairs of socks for example. I've been gradually decluttering over the last 3 months and since yesterday have added 55 books for sale to Greenmetropolis and disposed of out of date junk food from my food cupboards; tomorrow I am going to be working on my wardrobes; anything I can't remember, I am going to try on to see if it fits and from there it's either going to be kept, sold or given to charity.

The 'black hole' down the side of the freezer has now been decluttered, along with the pan cupboard :j

I've also done a mammoth amount of cleaning today, so an early night for me!

Bought some scotch guard cleaning stuff for the living room rug.. (not convinced on this one)

    Slowly getting there

ohh and amnesty books said they would come and pick up my books for me :D brilliant, i can get rid of lots of unwanted books for others to enjoy

Well the push of visitors arriving this afternoon has been what I needed: OH's boxes of stuff now in attic and me springcleaning like mad:D.
Not really getting rid of stuff out the house but putting away at least.

Good nerws about amnesty Muppette. And good going kingfisher:T
