Feeling low with clutter

Endless paperwork
Does anyone else find flat surfaces quickly get used to dump paperwork 'to sort later'? And before you know it, tis everywhere.
Oh yes!
I put one piece of paper down and before I know it it's become a pile, or two!
I find having the shredder to hand is the only hope I have of keeping it down too! Although we have a recycling bin now that I can just throw everything into, and that makes paper sorting much easier (the stuff that doesn't need shredding anyway)!
I swear my kitchen side is a paperwork incubator and my kitchen cupboard a plastic container incubator!
Just how do inanimate objects breed?0 -
boxed up two boxes of books today so no more wobbly pile.Wine boxes are great and easy to move too.
Tomorow I'm going to double bag the xmas decs up and put in the loft(well kids are putting away)so understairs cupboard is clear for hoover etc.A big job so I'm giving myself until friday!.Every day above ground is a good one0 -
Best spud - remind me not to introduce my kitchen cupboard to yours, because the rate mine also breeds handy plastic containers, put the 2 together and population control will be totally out the window:rotfl:.
Good work crutches - and sensible to set a realistic goal that way you don't feel you are failing to achieve.
Today, with decluttering, I am all talk and no action:o. Just too drained to do all the other stuf of life that needs doing to. Congratualting myself just for getting washed and dressed and cooking dinner, lol.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
2 days of painting.. i am soooo tired, i couldn't help that much but i did try.
DS got more paint on carpet, but even dry it seems to be coming up (phew)
lol looks so clean, but next step is to wash everything else.
Feel better about the visitor coming now, doesn't look so skanky.
So stiff i can barely move, i know i am in for it for a few days, but.. i think it's worth it. OH and DS got the job done :T:T
Keep going everyone, i may need a few days to recover, but i still have a long way to go with the de clutter.0 -
Aaaaaah! since removing my clutter zones from the sitting room I've started another pile on the coffee table! I really do need one place in the sitting room for dumping all my 'must do urgently' things. I've got a magazine holder thing somewhere upstairs, full of non-urgent 'stuff' so I'm going to bring it downstairs and keep it down the side of the smelly chair, but limit myself to just that one clutter zone, and anything non-urgent can be put upstairs in my big box of 'stuff' that I will sort one day ...
I haven't done any more decluttering, but I'm enjoying the extra space in the sitting room that we created last week. One bonus is that now my my 4 year old can reach the coffee table without leaning over a sofa he has started to play with whatever toys are on the coffee table. He now plays with the scooby doo spooky house in the mornings instead of asking for the TV before school
Hope you're all enjoying the lovely weather52% tight0 -
It's quiet here today - hope you are all ok?
I've painted the skirting board in dd's bedroom today and worked out I can fairly easily strip the varnish from her pine bed and paint it to match the rest of her furniture. :j
The rest is designed to be painted (I just never have before now) and it will look better if it all looks similar.
I have sold/freecycled quite a lot of stuff and made enough money on the sold items to cover the self-storage - and I still have live listings on Ebay and a load of CDs/DVDs to sell as a job lot.
My aim is to use as much as I can of my existing furniture/household items and use money from cashback/selling to cover the majority of the rest.
I haven't 'paid' for anything yet as the paint I am using was bought with my birthday money. :j0 -
great idea, I might ask for paint for my birthday too, instead of mountains of smellies that end up as clutter lol! I think if the sitting room wasn't so shabby I might be more motivated to keep it tidy - it worked with the stairs. I hoover and dust the stairway more often now that it's dust on a decent looking surface rather than dust on a tatty horrible surface.
what colour are you painting the bed?52% tight0 -
omg, i didnt realise quite how much ''clutter'' i have until today, recently went on a de clutter mission and have filled 7 bin bags full of old clothes and 3-4 bin bags of teddies! and still have stuff everywhere! nightmare,
i was going to charity shop them but my sister told me about a company called ecexport.com couldnt find anything about them on the net so thought id get them to pop round and collect it, they pay you 40p per kilo for bags full of clothes, i got £20 - not much but was only going to give them away anywayand the £20 is going towards the fundraising for SANDS that im doing
Can you see the mountains through the fog?0 -

I've given my mother another car load of stuff today for her to sell. Fortunately she loves it. Hopefully she'll make some money and I just like the extra space
I'm still yet to start on the wardrobes - don't really want to go there tbh and I know it's a big job (there are 5 of us) - but I really need it sorted. This all has to be done by the summer - I need a slick, pressure free environment - where we can all be at one wih our clear surfaces (like that's ever going to happen!)."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0
