Feeling low with clutter

Is it sunny where you are jellyhead? Blimming pouring down here and decluttering just doesn't feel the same when the sun isn't shining!
I've still not braved the cupboard under the stairs, although I'm heading that way. :j
Hope the sofa improves.
In my experience, if you are non-smokers, it will never smell 'right' but I guess it depends how smokey it is...
Sounds like you're on a roll, Mupette. :j0 -
I've packed a car load of stuff off today. Mainly baby stuff, books and more baby stuff. Mum's doing a boot fair at the weekend - hope she's talking the big car!
Cupboard under the stairs? Don't think I'm brave enough. I may have to rope 3 small helpers in for that one."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Will febreeze not work, guilty smoker here.
Febreeze worked a bit yes thanks
cigarette smoke is my worst asthma trigger and I am very sensitive to the smell - I can smell a smoker a mile off but the rest of the family aren't bothered by it, so I think I've just developed a sensitivity to it to help me avoid getting ill.
My parents and sister have all said today that you can't smell it when you enter the house (you could when we bought it) - so it's just me being fussy :rotfl: It hasn't made me ill though, so it'll be fine
Bestpud it was lovely and sunny earlier, didn't rain until we came home from the park after schoolI've been out without a coat all day :T

Feeling a bit wobbly today and knocking things over, like my breakfast tea.Still, its one way to declutter the bed rapidly !changed sheets and DH sorted landing sheet pile into a manageable pile too
Gardening coming on slowly but surely and filled pots look purposeful and not cluttery like empty ones!
Keeping a bag in the pantry for charity is definitely helping. The children often hand me stuff at odd moments that is too small etc so I have a basket for neighbours/friends and a bin bag for the charity shop.DH took it yesterday with the children after school and only came back with one 10p toy car.
Jelly head I can smell it anywhere too.:) Bestpud you are so right about the weather.Every day above ground is a good one0 -
We're having the boiler replaced next week so I've been sorting out the loft, the airing cupboard AND the cupboard under the stairs.
1 trip to the tip, 3 bags for charity and 2 crates of stuff into the garage.
The problem is no matter how much stuff I get rid of we never seem to gain any space !0 -
My dog is fine, we are staying at OH's this weekend, dog is happy as he is with his best friend Gizmo the cat.
They will stay here and OH, DS and me will go back to mine today and the boys will be painting (yay, finally)
The curtains have had a really good wash and have come up lovely, although i do wash them every few months to freshen the place, and i always have the windows open before i go to bed, (maisonette in a block of flats, need a long ladder to break in)
Feel happy today, once i see them painting i will feel even better knowing things are starting to get done.
Felt a bit morbid yesterday (after the diagnosis) was thinking of my own funeral !!! i want natural burial and thought about funding that (thanks Jeremy Vine radio 2 talking about paupers graves)
Got even worse later when i read that i now need to tell DVLA about my MS
Ahh well back to organising the painting.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Hi,
I just wanted to say such a big Thank You to everyone on this thread. I don't post or read this forum alot but I was sitting reading various threads the other night and found this one. I have been feeling soooooooooooo... low over all our clutter for years!
Recently I have been so down, we have moved so many times in 9 years I have lost count. We seem to be staying put for a while now and I really want all the boxes etc to be gone.
Well I am on the way thanks to you all. Yesterday OH was at work and I thought I am going to make a dent in it today.
I managed 4 large bin liners of rubbish, 2 Large bags of clothes on Freecycle that were collected within hours! and Various other things on freecycle to be collected.
I feel so good, I found myself picking things up and thinking "why is that there?" I never use it, and then i put it in the bin!
OH didn't notice! but I can tell !
Thanks again for inspiring me

I know how good it feels Afitos! I've just sorted four bin-bags of someone else's left-behind clothing for the charity-shop and kept behind some rather nice items which I'm going to put up on ebay. Even if I only get 99 pence for each of them it will have been worth the trouble. AND I've got a nice clear space to put some of my own things into storage, like all that winter knitwear I won't need again (I hope) until the autumn.0
