  • Just been and collected my books in. 9 people not in, 1 hasnt finished with it and wants to show here daughter (woohoo an order) and 3 orders totalling £75 :j

Also with creative ordering and looking through my stock box I have 'made' £15 and gained a haircare product!!

Going back for the other books on Monday and also putting more books out then as well. I also plucked up the courage to ask my sond nursery if I could leave some books there, so hoping to get a few orders from the staff (all young girls!!)

Trying to decide if Im going to take the road my ASM has offered me when I asked for more terriotory (sp). Its on the estate opposite mine but has a bit of a 'rough' reputation. But need to build customer base. AAArrrggghh :o

I'd take it - you never know! Some of mine & oh's territory isn't the best, but we've met some lovely people, and have some great customers there (and they are much more friendly than the people in the posher houses, who basically hand over the money and then shut the door in our faces lol). In my experience, the rudest people are the ones in the nicest houses, as they think they are too good to order from avon, people in "rougher" areas are much nicer!

  • Just a bit worried Im going to get mugged. Its that kind of rough lol. All my best customers are also not in the posh houses so know what you mean. Might say I will take it on a trail run but am not going there after dark.

I don't suppose anyone has any "Personal match barely there", in medium do they? I know it's discontinued but hoping someone has one or two in their stash box? Got a customer who has nearly run out so I said I'd see what I could do - I did mention that something similar is coming out soon - the new tinted moisturiser - but would like to get her at least one of the personal matches for her to keep her going until then.

see if you can get someone to go with you, maybe drive you and they stay in the car to keep an eye on things - or if you have access to a car, keep most of your cash in the car, and only take enough to give change for each order at a time (say if there order was £13, take £7 change in case they pay with a £20).

You'll probably be surprised - some of the areas I go to for signing people up, or dropping leaflets to - oh will go "o that areas really rough" - me not being from round here, I don't know any different lol, and everyone has been lovely to me, in the areas he wouldn't venture to!

Yay for my oh who is lovely - he said earlier in the week that he'd reguarly deliver some expired brochures for me, when he's off during a week and I'm at work....and again today, I asked if he could move the cars in the morning (hes on a night shift and doesn't get back till 6am) so that I could go out and take some books before he got up....and he's volunteered to get up a bit earlier so that we can take them together so it doesn't take as long. So proud of him cos I know not everyones partner is as helpful or supportive - maybe reading this might guilt them into it! smile.png

Take the estate, MG, if it comes to nothing then you can always hand it back. Like Lozza, I didn't know the areas here and it turns out my given territory - in parts - is quite rough too. (To the extent that my OH, who does know the area, was adamant that he needed to accompany me to make sure I was safe. Was quite funny; I was doing my best to canvass, be polite even when I got doors shut in my face and he was torn between trying to look as if I was nothing to do with him and wanting to defend me whenever he thought people were not 'as nice' to me as he thought they should be.)

Turns out that the lady in one of the roughest looking houses was one of my best customers (anyone at home on benefits makes it easier being that they tend to be in more so it's easier to deliver and also they put the money aside and/or tell you when's the best day to catch them with money in their purse) and she gave me two really good leads for new F&F.

And, never say never - last week I was actually flagged down by someone, who originally was adamant she NEVER wanted an Avon book. No ideas why but all of a sudden she wanted some Rare Gold (haven't even smelled it but she ordered 2 bottles this time, as did another customer) :)
Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon ;))
