Changing the subject, have just received an email from Avon about SLs being 'locked out' if they mis-use SMA i.e. change of policy from 1 April. Anyone able to explain in layman's terms what SLs have been doing that they shouldn't?

aha! found a very long thread on flissys.com which explains it all

"Due to data protection, we are not able to either search for a territory before a sign up, or allocate a territory before a sign up."

and more. Basically, SMA footprints every action we take. So I think we are no longer able to use SMA to view where there aren't any reps, to go and do expired book drops.

I think until it is a bit more established the only thing we can do with SMA is to check on our team - once they are registered, and do the outstanding actions for new members.

So back to the drawing board for me, get out the A to Z and pick roads and hope not many reps there!

Ah yes Maybe but then the SMA says request territory and then in red 'before sign up' its impossible to allocate territory yourself anyway, all you can do is request it xx i did look up a postcode on my mums address to see if there was free territory near if i signed someone etc I told my upline and she said i shouldnt do that. I said how would they know i wasnt actually intending on signing my sister for example? she just shrugged and said dont do it.
Bit silly i think as A is saying how else do you know where reps are and if youre treading on toes?

I suppose the best thing to do is to start them off with the who do you know list and then look for territory after. x

Basically under the Data Protection Act, we shouldn't be looking at SMA to look for territory, before we sign someone up, we shouldn't be looking on SMA for areas without reps for door knocking, expired book drops, etc, we shouldn't be looking at black dots on SMA.

I personally will not be touching SMA again, except to check on my team, as it says in the instructions, to see how they are doing campaign wise and nothing else.

Otherwise I am going to end up with so many black marks! Now, where is my A to Z?

Signing up your OH or any other family member is not mis-use. It is another potential rep to maximise your earnings and to gain more sales for Avon.

I really think it is something to do with the SL's ability to allocate territory to a new rep before they are actually signed up on the system.

Phew, thanks, because I've signed mine up as part of my team; thought maybe I was going to fall at the first campaign! :o

Thanks, am with you; don't think I'll bother even looking any more (best way to keep out of bother) - not sure what am allowed to use it for or what use it is if not for checking on territory already allocated. Why do they give us options i.e. black dots, etc. (and come to that doing online applications, which am told we SLs can't do) if we risk getting into bother by taking them? :o

    Hi, yes it is :)

How do I get signed up through a SL then?

Welcome to the thread, PP; see aureol beat me to it (again!) :T - if you would like to post up what area you are in then you might be lucky and be near one of the SLs on here.

Good luck; hope you get more support this time and make a success of Avon this time round.

Have no idea, think the theory behind SMA is good, just with the Data Protection Act and the Act changing and adding things, etc. it just makes it a bit more difficult for us. And I think it is open to abuse, so best to just do what we are supposed to do with it.

When we get a new rep, under your team, when they are on the system, they come up on your column on the left, and it has different actions, things we are supposed to do, etc, And you can look at your team's performance through this, I was reading the training manual on the website as my SL had not offered me training on it for a while. She now has, but have read the manual so will stick to the rules.

  • Hi everyone hope you are all well

Just a quick question, I placed an additional order on Tues 9th and I've just checked it online and it says prepared but doesn't say its been sent. Will Avon have sent it but its not showing or is it still sitting in there warehouse?

    Cheers
  • I all i wondered if any of you can help. I had a call from avon saying that they where going to send me an anew pack for a special price and i agreed. But my question is how can i sell this to my customers or am i missing something?
