A question about door knocking rather than book dropping - what do you say and where do you start? It scares me a bit tbh but if it is worth it then I'll do it!
I don't personally - I'm a "stuffer" rather than an "asker", as I believe if people are asked then a lot will instinctively say no, unless they know they like avon products (a lot of people may not have been an avon brochure in years so won't realise how up to date the products are - popping a brochure through the door means they will be likely to have a flick through, and they will be pleasantly surprised by the range & price of things). I always think - if you knock and get the man of the house, he is likely to say no, even if they lady of the house would probably like a brochure!
But - if you did want to ask, I'd say something along the lines of "hello, I'm sorry to disturb you, but I'm the new avon representative for this street, and I was just wondering if you would like a brochure" - with a nice friendly smileAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

Hi gingerkirsty. I don't door knock, I am a stuffer and run awayer...lol. But MarsdenCuckoo does well from door knocking rather than door stuffing, I am sure she will be along tomorrow to give you advice on how she does it so well.:)0 -
Collected from new territory today, 2 new roads and only got a total of 2 orders totalling £14.25
Lots of not interested and books not left out. Also had 2 VERY rude people.....even though i had my little girl with me! One woman even "shooed" me away without answeing the door after she peered out the window and asked what i wanted and i showed her the avon book ... felt like giving her the V sign... But my mummy brought me up better
:rotfl:
I think i need to go get my hair done and dress smarter when i knock from now on.. i have a feeling people see me and think "teenage mum" and look down their noses and thatrs why they are really rudeI'm NOT by the way, im 24 and was engaged when i had my little girl 2 years ago... but wherever i go and even people ive spoken to on my round have told me they assumed i was about 18/19! and so with a 2 year old with me......! Its nothing against teenage mums, but peoples attitudes DO seem to change when i tell them im 24, have my own house and car and in middle of uni etc. Maybe its just my confidence is a bit low at min.. but for some reason felt like such a scruff today in my usual clothes of combat jeans and trainers and like i was being looked down on

johanne, some days I go out in my jeans and a top, with my coat over it, and DH says to me, "do you want a new pair of jeans? I'll give you the money". Or leggings and boots. Basically I have very little in my wardrobe, 1 pair of jean, 2 pairs leggings and 3 quarter trousers. I have skirts, but find it too cold at mo and not good for running after young man!
I sometimes feel like a right scruff and the days I don't bother to straighten my hair probably do! :rotfl:
As a mum, you don't always have time to straighten your hair, put on the makeup and look like a yummy mummy, some days you just got to pull on some clothes and get out of the door!
What am I trying to say? I think sometimes you do need to make a bit of an effort, Avon are always saying wear the products, etc, and I suppose I can't really sell the hair straightening products when I haven't actually straightened mine that day...:rotfl: It might just be a case of doing your hair slightly different and putting on a bit of makeup, rather than completely changing your wardrobe.0 -
I sometimes feel like that. It's like I feel like I have to get dressed up to go for the avon if you know what I mean. I don't like the way people are rude either it wouldn't hurt just to say no thank youSealed pot challenge 18750

Awh hugs - those people were bad mannered before you went there, and they'll still be bad mannered afterwards, its hard not to take it personally but you're much better than they are! For some reason some of my customers assume I have child(ren), I don't, which made for an odd conservation before christmas when one customer asked if I'd finished buying for the little ones.....I figured she must mean my nephews so said well I was waiting to hear from my sister what everyone else had bought so that I didn't duplicate any presents.....realised afterwards why she looked puzzled, must have been wondering why I needed to ask my sister about what to buy my own kids lol :rotfl:
You're working hard, you're looking after your little angel wonderfully - even if you were only 18 I don't know why people have such an attitude problem with teenage mums, yes some are probably awful mothers (but then older women can be awful to) but then some people were meant to be mothers and do a wonderful job. Carry on as you are!:TAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
Thanks girls.
I do wear make up everytime i leave the house (even in the house somedays!) because ive been really self concious of my skin since i was a teenager. But i just still feel scruffy sometimes cos im not a glamourous yummy mummy like most of the mums round here!
Think its just a confidence thing at min.. having a rubbish couple of days. Ah well, will make a big effort tomorrow morning when i call back see if that makes a difference to how i feel.0 -
See you are already a yummy mummy. You make more of an effort than I do! I wouldn't worry about other mums and how they look. They may not do as much as you do to ensure your little one is well cared for and loved.
I am not saying that they don't love and care for their kids but we know how hard you work to provide and you are a yummy mummy.
If it's a confidence thing, just walk tall, head held high, shoulders back, back straight, big smile on your face, and think I am beautiful.0
