Well, finally been out and delivered my first ever round of brochures (took the kids along so no-one would be too rude when throwing them back at me
). Did speak to a few people and all were very friendly but most not interested
One lady did mention there is already a rep that delivers here and has been for a year!!! Only delivers to a handful of houses though (I am on this road and remember a brochure being dropped in once about a year ago but I did not order and seen nothing since). So my question is, what do I do? Was given this territory being told no-one did it, so is she doing it when she isn't supposed to? Should I still do this road? Help please.x

Welcome to Avon
Sorry to hear that you are having a problem on your first time out.
Firstly, keep going.
You now know that someone else goes to some of the houses, but not all. So keep putting your books out this weekend.
Secondly
Have a word with your ASM or Sales Leader, whichever signed you up. Tell them what you have been told, keep a record of house numbers etc. It could be friends and family that the other rep is doing or just cherry picking the odd customer, which is why the territory has become vacant. Where the odd house is served by a rep the ASM does sometimes reclaim the territory and re allocate it, which could have happened to you.
Good luck and let us know how you get on with it.:T wealth is a state of mind :T0 -

Yes, if you have been allocated this road by your ASM/SL, go ahead and canvass it. If she lives on this road too, don't give her a book and if any of the other people say they already buy from a Rep, that's fine. Put them on your list of house numbers not to deliver to.
Sometimes people have friends and family that do avon and they buy from them. I know one of the ladies on one of my roads was telling an ex customer that her best friend did Avon - news to me! She never told me that! And THAT "she put half her orders through her best friend, and half through me!" Liar! She never left my books out, I had to repeatedly knock on her door and ask for them back, so stopped dropping to her!
I wasn't going to challenge her on it as it so isn't worth it and she works at my local supermarket as do her 2 daughters who always do their best to avoid eye contact with me, as they know I canvass their road.
SOOOOOOOOO as long as you have been told you can do that road, go ahead and do it. It is worth mentioning to your ASM that you have been told another Rep is doing it. As sometimes ASMs allocate territory and don't update their records. And then reallocate thinking it is vacant!0 -
Hi ladies
Im thinking about starting Avon, I have an 8 month old and could do with some extra pennies as Ive just given up my job, My problem being is im really really close to some rough estates which I would never walk around, is there a way I could just see whats available before I decide if I want to do it?
Im in the southwest (am i allowed to say that?)Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

My own experience was that sometimes when you get to know a lot of the people you find the lovely ones in between and I can honestly say I never had any hassle. I was also pushing around a baby in a buggy on my rounds-no money for a car at the time. I made new friends and I actually felt safer as people got to know me. The kids would shout out "theres the avon lady" but never anything nasty. Maybe I was luck I don't know but considering the reputation the estate had at the time and the huge area I covered I think the press tend to scare us! You don't hear about the good things-only the bad. Id say give it 2 campaigns and see how you go but dont take out too much at a time and always get the money for the goods C.O.D. If you want to know exactly where it was PM me.
Hello! I am too in the South-west (somerset) and i have a rough-ish estate, i hated going round there to start and would aviod Saturdays and when kids were home but acutally thats where my best customers are and people do get to know you!

My Avon faith has been restored! Been on a bit of a downer, not been getting many new customers, just the same old, which yes i know is good, but i wanted some new 'blood'! Anyway, re-canvassed one of my streets, the street with the big houses you could only dream of and got 4 orders!
