Lord only knows how much my stock and demo kit is worth right now. But at least it does generate a lot of sales for me. I also try to buy stuff that I know that I will use personally too.

My customers have gotten used to the fact that all of my make up is shades of neutral/browns/golds. No blue, purple or green to be seen
:T wealth is a state of mind :T

Out of interest, why can't you return them? I just want to make sure I don't accidentally order anything I can't return.

With regard to the Avon 3 day special offer email, it says that the offers are only available for the relevant 24 hours, I presume that means they have to be ordered in that 24 hours, not ordered and processed for delivery? Or do they have to be separate orders and subject to the delivery charge?

Yes you just order them within the 24 hours they are available on the website. They then get added to your current order and arrive with that.

its just bits where ive "creatively ordered" so got it either free or at a knock down price as part of a deal ......... and it would look very suss if i kept returning lots of parts of deals so ive kept them bits!!!

I also went through a stage where i was selling lots of ANEW so bought some extra bits when there was beauty bonus bags/offers on etc and broke them down and split any costs across the products etc so have bits here and there from different bonus bags/deals.

Its not cost me anywhere near the RRP value of £250 because lets be honest how often do avon sell stuff at RRP??!! :rotfl::rotfl: But on paper i theoretically have £250 worth of stuff to flog somehow..
  • Hi everyone

just thought I'd introduce myself as I've signed up to Avon last Wednesday!

I've managed to get my books out and in, in time for the order today and I got £169 of sales so not too bad for the first round.:j On my territory there's about 90 houses.

Look forward to reading all the hints and tips etc!!

    Not very happy today:(

I replyed to an advert in my local paper to become a rep, so Sunday the rep(sl) arrived and signed me up. She said that she could not allocate me any streets until today, but by all means knock on a few doors to see if people have Avon ect. I was all hyped up and about an hour later with books in hand went to canvass various streets, cut a long story short 8 streets near me have Avon reps, so I decided not to waste anymore time.
Today I have been told all streets in my area are not avalible!!!

I'm now thinking, 1- The SL i spoke to is not from this area and is waiting for my local Area manager to let her know where is avalible, could the ASM tell her porkies and keep some streets so she or any of her SL can have them? or is there a system in place so anyone can have an area if avalible.
Also what if an Avon rep says she no longer wants a street does it go back in the pot so to speak or do some SL/ASM keep them to sign up new reps?
2- Why advertise when there is no local streets avalible?

I don't want to sound yuky but just don't understand why I have been signed up.
I have spent about 6 hrs getting books/flyers ready, dreaming (I know sounds silly) about delivering today.

I'm still hoping to get a response sometime today as what area there may be.

Sorry to go on and on

I totally understand where you're coming from, my ASM has given me 3 areas which all turned out to have reps already. I seem to have found a small area with no reps, but TBH it's not a very affluent area and sales are pretty bad. It also means a long walk before even starting to collect books.

TBH if sales don't pick up on the next campaign I might not bother. I get no support from my ASM, she won't reply to messages or emails, I've even asked Avon to email her and she hasn't replied, so I feel a bit in the wilderness.

Am I right in thinking that anything that is 'creatively ordered' is generally better value to us? So if products are on 2 for £10 and the products customers have ordered come to £13 we 'creatively' make the £3 for our pocket plus the commission we make on the products?!?

This makes our sale figures go down but we can often make more 'creatively' right?

Its ok the reason I ask is I've not ordered creatively until now (3rd campaign) as I was too concerned about getting everything ordered correctly and ontime blah blah.

Can any of you experienced 'creatives' tell me if this is the best / right way?

    thanks :)

Aaawww! Don't give up Linzi. I know it's maddening when that happens (as it has to quite a few people on here) but it's probably only an initial blip. Not being a SL myself, I'm not familiar with the mapping system, but I'm sure someone will have the answers.

As to a delivery pattern (when you do eventually get started) mine is as follows:

Week 1 Monday - del. area 1 (except those who have ordered this time)
Wednesday - delivery arrives. Pack & deliver over next few days. Books with orders for collection next Tuesday
Thursday - collect area 1 books

Week 2 Monday - deliver area 2 books.
Tuesday - collect books from this time's customers
Thursday - collect area 2 books & deliver F&F books
Friday email all customers who's email I have to remind them that order date is next Wednesday. Sometimes pop a little freebie on the end to see who is actually reading the emails :D

    Week 3 Tuesday - collect F&F books
    Wednesday Place order PM

Sounds a bit complicated, but sort of makes sense as you do it. Also keeping to the same days each week maximises use of delivery tickets which can be used a second time, rather than reprinting.

Personally, I'm a 'stuffer' rather than a 'knocker'. I find that if you knock on doors people are put on the back foot and will default to 'no' whereas a book through the door is less threatening :p Having said that, I know that many 'knockers' do so with great success, so whatever you find best really :D
