Got a mascara returned last campaign, customer reckoned it was faulty but then the replacement was exactly the same so both went back. (Diamonds one - anyone else had similar problems? She just said it was 'dried up'/seemed 'everything was clogged up at the bottom') - sorry, digressing. Anyway the second one was given me back after I'd done my returns and settled the bill so I returned it via Royal Mail (they wouldn't stamp my returns slip but just gave me one of their receipts/proof of posting). The item hasn't yet been credited though (returned it 13 May) - problem due to sending it back via RM or not enough time elapsed do you reckon? Did email Avon about it yesterday and awaiting their reply, just wondered if the RM labels might be the reason.....

YES - I had this from a new customer (thanks a bunch avon). I haven't had a look but she said exactly the same as you re: dried up/clogged/not very glittery.

    Looks like a dodgy batch.

I bought a Revlon one YEARS ago and can remember I wasn't very impressed with it - not glittery at all - so I didn't fancy the Avon one because of that.

Hi MC, I would chase the credit. Is it showing on your order tracking, or just not showing on your account balance? If its not on order tracking I'd chase it.

I returned some stuff via royal mail earlier in the year (was almost at recharge point as I'd forgotten about it so I paid the postage as it was very light) and it was credited straight away.

Thanks for your advice. It's not listed on the tracking either so deffo looking dodgy. Emailed Avon yesterday; will follow up.

I must be having a menopausal moment coz I don't get it: Ok so if I buy 10 Lotus Shields for £30 according to Avon I will make £40 if I sell them for £7. Great. Except. on page 5 of HT in the tiny print it says the brochure price will be £5 and the normal price is £7 and says the same thing in the article on the rep site .

    Am I missing something?
Dont understand the point thing either as that seems to be encouraging you NOT to do the money maker, as you would get points for selling from the brochure, not your own stock...

I have to say - I've never done a money maker (been an avon lady for a year and a half) and I never encourage my reps to. I think they're worthwhile if you do parties, as then you can sell them in advance and generate more interest.

However - if, like me, you just sell from the brochure, then I can't see that they are worth it. Yes if you don't sell them, you can return them - but I'd rather save myself the hassle of having to return them! I offer a discount on new launch products periodically as I think its worth it to get people to try something different, as hopefully then they'll order it in the future. Sometimes its worth offering a discount of say 10% to get more sales in the long run, as it does help keep customers loyal to you.

Bit off topic - but it proves a good service pays off - I've had a customer ask for me to deliver a brochure to her daughter, went to collect the book to find there was one left outside with a note to say "no thanks". No thanks to this other rep whose territory it is, who doesn't even deliver her brochures in resealable bags - but yes to me, who delivers in resealable bags, gives a free gift with every 6 orders, offers discounts, freebies etc etc - so was quite pleased with myself.

And as you say, for this money maker, it would mean you didn't get points to qualify for free goodies!

I'm personally just going to offer the lotus shield at £4 when its launched to hopefully get more people to order it, as then if I sell more, at least the free bits I'll qualify for will make up for my loss in earnings.
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A

Do any of you sell on Ebay? I was chatting to someone about SSS a couple of days ago, he buys loads because he goes hiking, but he said he'd never buy off an Avon rep because he can buy it cheaper online, and when I've looked it does look much cheaper on eBay .

I don't sell on ebay but if you look there are quite a few Avon sellers on there, some who admit to being reps selling items.

The only thing with selling on ebay is, it depends how cheaply they are selling it, because once you factor in P&P, it can be more expensive than buying from a rep when it is very cheap in the book and also you have to pay ebay and paypal fees. You have to deduct these from any profit you make, to see how much profit you are actually making.

The point of the MM is to buy in at the lowest cost price we can. By buying the 10 pack you also get the compliamentry hair shampoo condiditoner, hair brush and other thingy.

Yes they are on for a £5 to begin with, but what Avon wants you to do is to buy them at that MM price and not to return them. then when the price does go up, you still have stock to sell at a higher price.

Im getting the 10 pack if only for the freebie hair pack. I will sell one Lotus shield to myself and I can still return the rest and keep the hair pack as I called Avon to check.

So you can still win all round.

Ive sold 13 Fergie sets so far, Sales over £830, and party on Tuesday night to finish of C10 with. Picking up more books on Sunday so fingers crossed for a mega C10. Im hoping to hit PC by C13 which will be great for morale as I only signed up in C5 of this year.
