    Hi Jen

I cast off the last stich of the scarf I'm doing for my SIL last night. It's got some fancy lace edging to do so I'll try and get that done tonight and I'll be able to put that in the "completed for Christmas box".

Ooohhh cheap sock wool... very tempting. I'm about to order some Zebra stripe for my brother's Christmas pressie. He loves Africa and safari so I reckon zebra socks will do him fine. If there is enough left over I'll knit a matching pair for his son!

Haven't been able to work on mine for ages, but I'm onto my third ball of yarn. Will have to crack on soon, want to start another one before I go to the Knitting & Stitching Show so I can knit on the train!

Have bought some pretty fluffy pink wool, and the needles so I can knit a scarf for my niece - now all I need is a pattern and some time to do it in... :p I'll be checking out those links earlier on in the thread!

And now I'm working on a christmas stocking for my son, if it works I plan to make a few more & give a pressies with a small toy in to a few freinds children.

No point me doing fancy fluffy scarves, Hubbys aunt did them for most of the family last year, with matching [STRIKE]teacosys[/STRIKE] hats:o

Hi Just wondered if you used a book or something to learn? I used to be able to knit but haven't done it for so long I can't remember how. Also could never cast on my mum always did it!

So if anyone knows of a book or site that would help me learn please let me know

Also if anyone knows where I can get bargain needles/wool to start please let me know

    Hi Kelly

    this website:
    http://learntoknit.lionbrand.com/
has good instructions, but I've got a book by Debbie Bliss, which gives really clear instructions (Baby knits for beginners).

Charity shops are really good for needles, and £ shops v good for wool, but I went into our local haberdashers today, and got some beautiful fluffy wool for £2.99 so it's not that expensive at regular shops.

    Good luck!

Wow Lillibet, that's really lovely, great idea about the ribbon it really makes it look special.
Alikay - I love the idea of 18 presents for an 18th birthday. It is my eldest daughter's 18th soon, I might have to do that myself. What sort of things have you got?
  • Hello.
