Right back to this scarf, I have the little cash's label ready to sew in "This was handknitted by dumpy" I bought the minimum order but I think it could be sometime before I use them all up!

Hope you don't mind me asking, where did you get your lables from? I'd love some of these but no idea where to get them

No problem at all Lilibet. If you go to Minilabels.co.uk you can design your own label. They give you ideas and you can have symbols put on as well. I *think* you get a 10% discount after the first order. Mum used to get similar woven name tapes years ago to put in our school uniforms but they seem to have branched out into a whole range of designs and colours now.

I have a ball of wool with "Hand Knitted By Dumpy" on some, silver writing on a black background with a ball of wool with two needles sticking in it. I also have some "Hand Woven by Dumpy" black writing on a silver background with a cone of wool and YEARS ago mum had some made for me with a spinning wheel in brown saying "Hand Spun and Knitted by Dumpy"

Needless to say I haven't used up many of the hand spun and knitted ones!!

It just finishes things off and ideal for the relatives who are a bit slow at realising that I haven't bought them this scarf I have handcrafted it for them with my own two hands and althought it may not look much it represents many hours of work and should be apprecaited as such!

Thriftmonster, have you ever read the "Yarn Harlot" she writes a VERY funny story about knitting for Christmas and I found myself nodding all the way through!
  • Brilliant!!! Am going to place an order with the label company as soon as I get back off me hols!! Was gutted earlier in the week because we fly to France tomorrow to stay with In Laws who have rented a cottage out there for 6 weeks. We're only going for a week so MIL suggested that we put our case of clothes in her car as they were driving over. Meant to put my needles and a couple of balls of wool in and completely forgot!! Thought I wasn't going to be able to do any knitting at all for a whole week (I find it sooo soothing - and I love doing it while watching foreign tv! How cool is foreign tv??? :) ) and then SIL who is also going revealed that she is taking a case with her as well as hand lugggage. A jen and her knitting shall never be parted :rotfl:

(Perhaps I need to get out more???) :j

LOL, if you got out more you wouldn't have time to knit!

I'd love to learn to spin but perhaps I should learn to knit properly first :D

Moggins go for it, have a go at learning to spin, it's very relaxing when you get going and you don't have to count rows or stitches!

I managed a bit more on the Christmas Scarf so I have now done about 110cm, only 26 to go before I have to do the lace edges. It's going to get finished!

Finished it!!! Its number 17 of 18 presents for my daughter's 18th birthday tomorrow (lots of cheap and a few home made bits and bobs amongst them).

I must say I'm impressed-it's very pretty and feels lovely. Was a bugg*r to cast off though, ended up dropping a needle and messing it up a bit. Still, luckily the eyelash wool has fluffed up over the dodgy bit so you can't tell.
  • Hello Hello!!

Am back from France and three scarves have been added to the collection!! Was gutted to find that there was no tv in the little house - I love watching foreign tv, but it was great anyway. Found a little shop in a town we went to where they were selling bags of 10 balls of sock wool for 11euros. Desperately wanted to go and get LOTS (think it works out at about 70p a ball) but couldn't carry it there and then and didn't get a chance to go back for it. Am gutted!! not that I know how to knit socks but, you know, it's always nice to have new wool....

    will be ordering labels tonight....

Hope evertone is well - sorry I've babbled on again :o

  • Hello Peeps.

Hope everyone had a lovely and relaxing weekend. I got a big box to put my completed Christmas projects into. I still need to knit:

4 scarf, glove, hat and bag sets
2 scarf hat and glove sets
    2 mens jumpers

so reckon I have enough to keep me occupied for a while!!

    How's everyone else doing?
