OOhhh you found the orginal thread, I could see that at all (this doesn't bode well for the stiches on the needles does it!)

Cooltrickerchick, socks are really easy, they just look a lot harder than they are. I LOVE them as I hate sewing up and socks only have two ends to sew in!!! I can also do them whilst watching TV with minimal mistakes, unlike the cobweb (what was I thinking) lace scarf which I have been doing for a year and I still have to concentrate on, I tried to do it whilst watching a Morse and spent a frustrating 2 hours picking back.

However I have a scarf in a slightly thicker yarn which needs to transform itself into a pressie for sister in law by Christmas so off we go.....

    Hi ,
My friend and I knit for the Linus Project which is a charity for knitting blankets for children who have been involved in all sorts of dreadful things in their lives .When the tsunami struck in asia Project Linus helped to supply blankets for kids who owned nothing but the clothes they stood up in. My fireind and I and a couple of others knit the squares and sew them together and when we have enough we take them to our local co-ordinator. It is a great way to use up wool that is left over from things that you have made and if it gives a child somewhere a small bit of comfort then think of what your little blanket square can do.Have a go if you can or log on to the site and see what happens to all the little squares that women ,(and men ) have knitted.
Hi Jackie - can I ask you where you send your knitted blankets to? Our local project Linus co-ordinator (Liz - West Hants and East Dorset) only takes quilts (she used to do blankets but now obviously doesn't have any outlets for them). I often think I'd like to knit little blankets with odd bits of wool but don't have anywhere to send them.

so its, Liz, Dumpy, Tigga, Moggins, Purpleprincess and myself. Have i missed anyone?

I think we're all knitting at different rates, so don't worry too much. I'm about halfway through, but only 6 rows this week.

Halfway!!!! I only managed cast on and one row last night before my eye lids slammed shut. I'll have to get a wriggle on.

I shouldn't worry, I've got a cross stitch to finish, so no knitting for me this week!

We collect them up and they go to a co-ordinator in east London about once every three months, but she is moving soon to Guildford area of Surrey so she may start one there . It is such a good cause and a great way to use up oddments of wool.:j I have used lots of odds and ends up and like to think that somewhere in the world there is a child havind a cuddle from a blanket made from my scraps of wool
My friend who lives in Dartford took around 60 that had been knitted from various ladies in Kent in one trip.
  • i just measured - am up to 35 cm on mine [double knitting on size 8's] but only have 25 stitches on as it is for a small child.....

doing it in moss stitch tho so is looking pretty - if it works i might use some of my other odds and sods and give them as presents.....

  • ooooh - can I join in please?? I'm a compulsive knitter and absolutely adore knitting anything at all!! I'm just two thirds of the way through a shawl for my mum to go in the Christmas box, and then I'm ready to start the scarves, hats and mittens (some with matching bags) for my friends. Have bought some gorgeous Zanzibar wool (not very mse tho I'm afraid - £5 for a small ball) and it's sooooo gorgeous!! :j
