Has he shopped around for a better deal? My quote always goes up which is why I swap every year. That'll only be down to the accident too, unless the business use is as a taxi driver or delivery driver it doesn't actually have any effect on the cost.
Could you not use some of your house savings to pay off the laptop and start afresh just with savings? You seem to work like me, knowing you owe money gets you down.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Yep, I think we're the same like that! I was thinking about doing that though - moving it from savings to pay it off. But it's at the lovely round 1k figure at the moment and I don't want to lose that (again)
I am pretty motivated with it at the moment though, keep on popping pennies into that account and feeling all nice because of it!
Might just be the accident then. Tbh, I was kind of half listening as soon as he said it's near doubled. But it was the cheapest, did all the price comparison sites and rang the 'solo' companies up. I keep on telling myself it's ''just one of those things'' but it's bloody annoying, feel bad for OH too as he was really making headway with his credit card, but now he's back to minimum payments as the insurance payments soak up the over payment he was making. We'll get there, we always seem to anyways
Great news about the deposit btw Dinah, I keep on meaning to post on your thread but feel out of the loop!!0 -
What a nightmare about the insurance. I hope mine doesn't go up loads because of my accident.
I am sure you will have all the finaces in order again soon. Enjoy your weekend.0 -
Thanks Wendz - hope your insurance doesn't double like OHs! On one hand I feel bad for him, but on the other I'm thinking he should of had some sort of plan, but then I'm jumping back in the other hand after that thinking 'even if he had thought earlier, it's not like he has the extra income to save for it' confusing times!
Anywho, bit of a spendy day today. Went into town this morning and paid £19.77 worth of cheques into my account, which I've already moved into laptop savings. While I was in town I spent £14.11 on a mixute of things to treat my mum (been working her bum off all week and needed some treating!) bits for tea with OH tonight and 'essentials' Just got back from Tescos as my Mum wanted some stuff and I wanted to have a good drive before my lesson tomorrow. My Mum ended up getting a CD from the '500 extra points' deal so I picked up the Hurt Locker to put away for Fathers Day and stole the 500 pointsSo a total spend today of £24.08
Set my first Tesco points goal too of 1500 for a 'free' day out at a Theme Park. Put it in my sig to cover the hole that the HD left!
Will get the balance of the laptop account and find out my clubcard points tomorrow/monday and update my sig then.
Hope you all have a nice weekend!0 -
What a lovely weekend!
Went for a run this morning, and then spent the afternoon in the garden with OHs mum - has been lovely
Wanted a few ideas please - OH were talking and decided with the move and everything we probably cant afford our usual 2 week holiday abroad this year, but have decided on a couple of weekends away instead.
We are already going to York for a friends wedding in August, so have decided we will make that a weekend away. OH wants to go camping one weekend - although no idea where yet. But if anyone has any other ideas for a nice (and not too expensive) weekend away somewhere please let me know:D
I hope your all having a nice weekend!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Morning everyone
Just taking a cheeky coffee break at work. So much to do!
Really looking forward to shopping this afternoon, feels like ages since I properly went into a clothes shop. It's weird going shopping with my sister though, not only with how different our tastes are but our views on shops. I see Topshop as pretty high priced for me and she sees it as her 'primark' (will nip in and grab whatever she fancies not worrying about price, kind of like you do in Primark!)
Can't wait to getting some new clothes though, have the ideal 'summer' look in my head so thats I'm going to go for. Taking Primarni for all it's worth! I've seen some really cute things from them on some fashion bloggers pages, so I'm stupidly giddy
Had a NSD yesterday. But today clearly wont be, will obviously update tonight.
Also found where we're going to go camping in May (just two nights) so need to book that at some point, either today if I get a moment or tomorrow.0 -
Scrap that, I've booked it
We're going to a really pretty place, not too far away as it's just for 2 nights but far enough away to make it worth going. £15 out of the holiday account to cover it. Need to pay another £13 when we get there, but seems stupidly cheap!
I mean, it's no luxury lodge with hot tubs and snazzy baths but it'll still be fun!
Just under 1 hour till shopping time.. it's really sad I'm counting down isn't it?! Back to work I suppose!0 -
Have fun shopping this afternoon! I really wish I could be shopping with you... with someone else's credit card of course!
That trip really is cheap, you'll have loads of fun though I'm sure!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

It's nothing wonderfully thrilling itself, but it's on the grounds of this place which looks amazing! Just in N.Yorks, so if the weather is rubbish we have a quick route home!
Thinking we might need a tent bigger/better than ours - one of those 2 men pop up ones. But it's bright yellow with a llama on it (which looks like Jules from Pulp Fiction) so I do kind of love it for that!
