hi Alyth - so glad to see your posts! pleased the exam went well too.
please Alyth, DO NOT confront anyone! this is best left to the police now (apart from protecting yourself and i am sure they will have some helpful suggestions). you do not know if by confronting this guy you may provoke him into escalating his acts. and if you are wrong - why upset what is possibly a lonely old man? this person may be a stranger to you who found the key you used to leave outside. you simply dont know do you? please hun, I strongly feel that you should never confront a stalker - other women have done so and regretted it.

My concern is surely turning the bed down is deliberate and, frankly, unhinged? To enter someone's house when they are not there, to move things is deliberately trying to scare you or attention seeking. Please let the police approach the person, hopefully that will make them realise they cannot go any further without getting into a lot of trouble. Don't rely on the wife to stop him (if the ex is the culprit) as they may have split up or she may be away.

Just had a call from the police, someone is on there way round now - that'll get the neighbours talking!

I truly won't approach this guy, if he comes into work then I will just be nice and polite as I always am - but no doubt it's been clocked already that the locks have been changed, I bet Larry the locksmith has told someone who has told someone else (not his real name!) so I'm happy for village gossip to carry this one for me.

I actually forgot about the camera until you mentioned it bubblybee - damn, I meant to check earlier but got caught up in studying - I'll mention it to the policeperson when they come round.

Good luck with the police, hope it goes well and try not to feel silly - you are right to be concerned and they should take you seriously.

  • this is freaking me out just reading it, my ex has threatned it and reading this has made me worry.... (although don't think he would). I hope things are sorted out

Hun, is it possible it is your landlord? Surely somebody would have noticed a strange person wandering around and such.

yeah - good luck with the police - I hope they have some helpful suggestions on how to keep yourself safe! and i am sure they will take you seriously.
glad to hear you arent going to confront anyone! there is advice on the internet for those troubled by stalkers and i am confident the police will have some pearls of wisdom.
let us know later how you got on hun - but can i give you some advice first? be very careful about posting your safety measures!!! you dont want to give your stalker any helpful info.
  • Yes I was going to say if he is in your house he could in theory acess your computer and the history is all there to anything you've posted on this or any other forum. Stay safe. x

okay, so I was doing okay until I started to speak to the policeman - who horribly, I know from work!!

Now I can't stop shaking. The policeman is going down to see the guy now, he took a statement from me, he absolutely agreed that I was not mad and that someone was coming into the house. He gave me some suggestions of how to make myself secure, so I will put those into place as soon as I can - I have some classes tomorrow that I can't miss.

The guy doesn't even now how to use a computer, of that I am sure. My PC is passworded when you switch it on and to be honest this is the only forum I post on. This has all been in the back of my mind for a while, so I took myself off a couple of other websites I used and made sure my security settings were very high for stuff like facebook, which I no longer post anything on.

Talking about it finally was actually really upsetting, especially as I know the policeman and he asked some questions about how I felt and now I feel very violated - I'm too scared to go for a shower in case the guy comes round.

Perhaps you were doing the ostrich thing before as a way of coping with it. Now you have informed the police & changed your locks you can face it???

Its normal to be freaked by it. But your locks are changed now so you are safe. Is there anyone who could stay with you for a little while (not that I think you need a minder) but the company would probably do you good.

Hope you mentioned both guys who have a copy of your key. Just cos the footsteps were of a heavier man doesn't mean that that they key didn't originate from the older chap. It could be someone different altogether - sorry, not trying to freak you out.
