There's a scary thought!

I can assure you that i am very select in the information that I give out regarding myself, and always have been - please don't take the viewpoint that my username is where I stay, it couldn't be further from the truth.
I do take your opinion though, but I suspect that the same could be said of many others on this site.0 -

How about doing it very indirectly by chatting to all the customers in your shop about what a horrible experience it's been for you and how these days everyone needs to be careful, including them ? You're quite rural and word will spread faster than the speed of light......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

not sure how I will approach him - perhaps mention in passing that the joiner was up changing the locks, something I should have done when I moved in, etc, that sort of thing if he comes into the shop. I saw him over the weekend and he "enquiried" as to what I was doing this week, when I was at college, etc and I was deliberately vague and didn't say I was off last night - that's what lends me more to it being him than married guy.
Hopefully resolved now, but it makes me very very VERY wary now of humans - I'll stick to the dog and my studying!!0 -
Just found this thread and although it is too late for the OP I just thought I would mention incase anyone is in this situation that my hub is a locksmith and he say's that if you are inside and worried lock the deadlock on your front door, then leave the key in the lock but half turned. This way no one can get in using a key from the outside or push your key out. Obviously it only works while you are at home but you will sleep better knowing no one can get it!0

Unfortunately my locks allow you to open the door from outside even if you have a key on the other side, something about a long barrel.........Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

Hi Alyth,
I'm really glad that everything was ok last night for you. I know someone else posted that they thought this was a wind up and how could you stay so calm, but I think it's a natural protective barrier that you put up to rationalise that everything is going to be ok particularly when it's late at night and you can't do anything. I know what that's likeIt was different for me as I wasn't on my own but it sounds like you are. You need to do everything you can to protect yourself. . Unlike my situation you seem to have far more concrete proof that something is going on and I'm really pleased you have gone to the police. I personally wouldn't approach the person you think it is, you don't know how they will react. I like the suggestion about letting word get around the neighbourhood - tell people you've got the police watching and hopefully whoever it is will go away. Definitely change all the locks. Keep us updated with what's happening. Oh, and I would be creeped out too if I thought there were cameras in the house. When you search, remember they could be as small as a lipstick so look everywhere, and in everything.
Good luck.A big thank you to everyone who contibutes to the MSE forums :T0
