  • Further to above, you can contact the appropriate branch of Trading Standards too. Also when you do your 14 day warning letter, mention the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and the Distance Selling Regulations. Be straight forward and tell them the matter will be handed over to Trading Standards unless you get your money back or the goods.

    Nobody needs to feel they are helpless in these situations. This company is acting very strangely, they may be straightforward fraudsters or they may be about to go under. I do not know - I do not care.
  • CJ Jones - who are you? Why do you assume anyone should have to put up with this kind of service from Ultimate Animals? They are taking people's money and not delivering goods. That is theft. Why are you defending them?

  • CJones, why have you suddenly disappeared after having defended this company so vehemently. Apart from being suspected of illegally posing as a satisfied customer, could it be that the realisation has finally sunk in that [STRIKE]your[/STRIKE] this company is in serious trouble and will be investigated? If there were genuine problems which Brambles were eager to rectify, they would not STILL be taking people's money knowing that they cannot, or will not, provide the goods. As Millygirl1 said, that is theft, and the consequences will be extremely serious once the authorities take charge.
  • I have been re-credited by my bank! As advised by Consumer Direct, I contacted my bank's fraud department, gave them full details, they sent me a form. I filled in the form and sent it with copies of all correspondence i.e. my e-mails chasing them for my goods or money back. I just looked at my bank statement and I have been refunded by the Bank not Ultimate Animals.

    Please everyone who is being cheated by this company, do something about it right now. Do not just put it down to bad luck because it may only be a small amount. This company is taking money from people and not sending the goods - that is fraud. It is the principle. They are now under investigation and I truly hope they are stopped from trading soon.

    I wish we'd seen this site before we placed our order with Ultimate Animals!
    Ultimate rip off, more like! I'm now going to make contact with my Credit Card firm and try and claim a refund. This firm should be stopped from trading and ripping anybody else off!
  • We managed to get a refund by doing a chargeback. This message has now appeared on their website
    "Wednesday 5th May 2010
    For the past 18-months, this site has been run under licence by Brambles Pet Shop Ltd.
    For personal reasons this licence has been handed back to the owner.
    Orders cannot currently be placed online - but all orders taken up to midnight on Tuesday 4th May will be dispatched.
    We would like to thank all our loyal customers, and assure you that you will in due course be able to order from Ultimate Animals again.

    Or should it read "Might" or "probably won't"

    I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone who has been affected by Brambles Pet Shop Ltd whilst they were temporarily in control of Ultimate Animals. This approx. 18 month association was ended by me in May 2010. The owners of Bramble were trusted friends who took over the website whilst I was too unwell to run it myself. It's shocking and very sad how things worked out with Brambles!.
    Ultimate Animals was started and run by me for over 10 years and used to be one of the UK's top pet supplies website along with an excellent customer service record. Sadly, personal circumstances meant that I could no longer run it, this is when Brambles stepped in!. Over a period of time, I became aware of increasing problems with the new owners and after finding threads like this on a few websites, I ended the relationship and took my business back.
    I am now running it again, based in Cardiff and am working hard to re-establish Ultimate Animals on the internet. I can assure everyone that they will never again experience problems with Ultimate Animals orders. I will ask you all to please come back to Ultimate Animals and if you mention MMS at the time of ordering, I will refund your postal/carriage charge.
