Lovely dress and shoes. It does look to short to me so sorry. Were you wearing a petticoat with that or is it netting etc? Could you try it with less so it lengthens it? Maybe start a new thread so a certain dressmaker will see it and comment.
  • I think the dress and shoes are lovely. I didn't notice in the picture either, until it was pointed out. I doubt people would notice on the day either - it's your day, and if those shoes make you happy, I reckon you should go for it.

loving the invites & piccies that have gone up! And thanks for the welcome, can't believe I have so many date twins!! :D

we're sorting the cake out tonight - it's going to be stacks of "parcels" in ivory and blue! yay!!!

what do people do for flowers? Has anyone used foam flowers? I found a gorgeous flowergirl bouquet with foam roses on ebay, but not sure whether to bid or not, in case I can't match them up with the other flowers... hmm

Foam is a great alternative to fresh flowers for a flowergirl especially if the little one is small but not too small..IYKWIM..they are a lot more robust than fresh flowers so can withstand most things a small one wants to do with them..just need to be a bit mindful of the choking aspect if a small one was to try and eat it...why not order a sample or just one from the seller to see the quality and if they will go with your other plans...foam are also great for buttonholes

  • Thanks LEJC :)
I think I'll go for it then! She's definitely not small enough to choke herself on it.

I have been told by my dress lady that the shoe height is vital, my dress is an ex-sample, so I have to find shoes with the right heal height to match it, and I have had my beautiful 4" rainbow heels turned down by her for the same reasons as your lady is saying. I have to say, on my dress, I did agree with her, but it is difficult to see how much your dress is off the ground.

As has already been mentioned, about 1-1.5cm tops off the ground.
  • Hi Everyone this is a rushed post but I wanted to get on quickly and thank you for the support and the pms I will reply to asap but not tonight me and hubby to be are going out for one last meal before we get stuck in properly and try and lose a few more pounds starting tomorrow! I find if I say I will start on a friday it works better than starting on a Monday  ;) (hopefully!!)

Yesterday morning I could have been sick I was so nervous. I woke up at 6am. My appointment wasn't until 1pm but then I realised I might need a strapless bra so rushed to evans in Newcastle, not only had the shop been halved the lingerie section was tiny and now they don't do them. I thought about M&S but then realised I'd probably have to go get measured by them because for whatever reason I am different sizes in different shops. This is the annoyance of losing a lot of weight and then putting on weight, I'm all over the place :p I stuck with my normal bra and in the end it didn't matter I just shoved the straps down :rotfl:

I had an amazing time trying on dresses!! It was so much better than I ever could hope for. The lady in the shop was lovely, calmed my nerves and basically taught me to take my fat goggles off lol :T She was a straight talker and told me this should be the happiest day trying on dresses, it is unbelievable how other bridal shops can be so snobby to us larger girls. (I don't know if I mentioned this last time but I had been turned away from one place because of ordering in so late, and b having to apparently pay up to £200 extra to get my "larger" gown back in time. ) It was so lovely to go somewhere and feel like a proper princess. I walked in there thinking I would need a huge bolero to cover my arms, even a so called 'friend' had told me "you're not thinking of going strapless are you?" but you know what? I walked out feeling on top of the world and realising I didn't need to feel self conscious on my day. They had pictures all over the walls of previous brides, everyone of them looked gorgeous.

The lady shut the shop and we were there for 3 hours. I tried on so many dresses. We went through dresses that suited me, didn't suit me, I got to see what I looked like in every type of dress, zip up, lace up, two piece, huge dresses, you name it I was in it. I enjoyed myself SO much. I can't believe I put it off so long. In the end it came down to three dresses I really loved. We still had the calls to make to the suppliers of the dressers to make sure we could get it back to the shop in time if I were interested!

The first one was Alfred Angelo 1136 & I know this is a very popular choice with brides, I've seen lots of people on forums who have this and I'm not surprised because it's gorgeous!! The second was Sincerity 4519. Now the other one I am not so sure of, It could be Mark Lesley but I can't find it on the website. I have to say I would never of picked these dresses out in magazines, the sincerity dress especially because the picture online makes it looks very plain to me but in real life I didn't feel that way. Having them on in the shop was something else. I felt more amazing in Sincerity 4519, it just hugged me in all the right places but hid everything I needed it to lol I kept stroking it! The sparkle on the Alfred Angelo was gorgeous but I felt all the attention was on my boobs! Sincerity has lovely beading, and I love the option of having the organza cap sleeves which really do look lovely, the back is stunning and it does remind me of a belle dress! We had to check the dresses with the suppliers and thankfully the AA & Serenity could get to the shop in time for fittings.. the other one was a no-no and they could only get a bigger size to me in time.

So in the end, after going back and forth for a good while I chose Serenity 4519! I didn't even think I would make a choice that day considering it was my first dress experience but I had two dresses I loved and new I would go back anyway lol

All day I have been thinking did I make the right decision? You look at the Alfred Angelo and it's so sparkly and blingy, But I know I have because I keep looking at the picture of serenity and I'm just imagining it all over again. It's definitely a 'me' dress! I have added other bits of sparkle with my veil and will be on the look out for a lovely Tiara :D

One thing I will say is I must have terrible posture  When laced up the dress was making me stand straight but felt so tight, but good at the same time!? How do brides get through the day!? I'm going to have to do some serious posture training the next few months!

I am just so excited now! If anyone lives in the North East and is looking for a bridal shop who are not judgmental, who will make you feel amazing, are not pushy then I definitely recommend L'amour Bridal in South Shields.

So now it is on with the rest of the planning. We are meeting a local event dresser for chair covers at the weekend and now I'm finally back in the swing of things with a huge tick next to one of the most important items :D xxx
  • bride2Be24: love the dress. I'm going to be a 'Maggie bride' too. I went for the Stacie dress.

Jezzabell: I'm getting married on the 16th too. Also very much doing mine on a budget which involves asking lots of people for favours e.g. making things giving us things. Your wedding sounds absolutely amazing, you are very well connected!

I haven't been spending as much time on the wedding for the last few months as just moved in to our first owned place. Also had a really rubbish thing happen last month in that our last place was broken into and loads of things were stolen (including my lap top- grrr!)

Feel really privileged to share all of your wedding plans. Thanks for all the usfull suggestions and contacts.:T
  • Foofighter - I have just realised that we are wedding twins!! :j

I am so chuffed that you had a great day! :D Your dress is STUNNING, and you will look amazing! :TI was thinking about you and hoping that you were enjoying yourself! It makes it all seem so real when you have your dress!

Enjoy your meal tonight with H2B :o
  • Foofighter-that's great news, your dress is beautiful, as will you be in it, I'm sure.
MM2B-they're ace! I love the pink colour, it's so vibrant! Can't wait to get started on mine :D
we must get bums into gear, I keep trying to find really comprehensive "to do" lists so I can see what we still have to organise. Every time I try to make my own, I think of something we haven't done..e.g. pick what flowers we want and then start looking at that single bit and forget about the to do list!!
    MUST sort out the caterers!
I'm sure I keep saying that! :rotfl:
