No! :( Sammr85, I think your invites are really elegant. How long did the mock-up take you to do?

thank you Sammr, sorry for not commenting on yours, they are great, I love the envelope idea, it keeps everything so neat! I also love the initials on the sticky-down bit, very subtley coupley. Also, I know you said it's because your printer ran out of ink, but I love the purple!! x
  • I like both of the invites, magicboo your's are great, very different. i'm thinking we'll either make them of send something by email. I don't really have postal addresses for people I want to invite and email is very green, plus they can print it off if they want! We'll see what the fianc! says. I'm not bothered about spending money on invites, would rather spend it on champagne!

thanks for the welcome. We're kind of underway. We have booked the venue for the ceremony and reception, nothing paid yet, but its on an estate in cornwall and Dad knows the owner so it's confirmed, we have the registrar provisionally booked to come and do the ceremony and are going to give notice tommorrow so when that is all complete we can confirm with him.

I am very lucky as my parents are putting money in for the venue and the catering, they're very foodie and supply top restaurants with fruit and veg so should be able to sort out good food. I also do a bit of work for some friends who put on events (festivals and weddings) and they are letting us use all of their equipment (marquee, bar, dancefloor, tables etc) for free. One of my oldest friends is a professional photograpgher and is doing all the pics as a present and another good friend is a TV and Film make up artist. My one of my bridesmaid is very good with hair so is doing mine. So all in all, I'm doing quite well! We've not got much money so trying to do it as cheaply and free as possible.

It's all very exciting. I've yet to speak to my event planner friends about the site set up , but hopefull will do that in the next couple of weeks so we definately know what's going where and what we need to hire.

Seems to be moving along quite nicely!

Wow, you are incredibly lucky with the people you know! I know an amateur seamstress, someone who is good at papercraft, an amazing baker and a very good amateur florist. Trouble is, they're all my mum! She can't do it all, much as she sometimes thinks she can...

  • I know, I'm a very, very lucky girl and on top of that I am marrying the most wonderful, lovely man, i can't wait to become a Mrs!

Without all of the help from friends and family we would not be able to afford to do anything like what we have planned and what we would like, it would take us years to save up as OH is a student at the mo. I'm so very grateful and hope that everyojne will be able to have a great time.

It's exciting reading how everyone else is getting on. I feel a bhit behind as only started planning mid October. It's great to have this site as there are some great MSE advise and suggestions.

I'm sure you've all given details about your weddings, but what coulour schemes have you got. We're having lime green and fushia pink, I saw this pic of a bouquet and fell in love with the colours. We're getting married in an Orangery (posh greenhouse) so i thought would be quite suitable.

Very nice! Look classy - and your menu is making my mouth water! I am doing doing pocket folds, but the signature side ones, so they open up like a card, with the wallet on the left hand side. Have taken the day off work on thursday to get them put togther, as my Mum has turned a bit Mumzilla, and wants them done and out of the way! Fair enough - but I should be being the ....zilla, not her!!!:rotfl:
I will try and post pics once they are done!

    Jezzabell, I love your colours!
I'm having a bit of a nightmare with colours at the mo. As you can see from my earlier post, our invitations are fuscia. Our actual colour scheme is sort of ice cream colours but I don't know how to put them all together! I don't have an artistic bone in my body so I'm struggling at the mo with table centres, flowers, napkins, decorations etc..
I think I'm going to do the following with the invitiations:
*fold up tea towel so little birds and heart with "are getting married" is on top.
*tie with 2 thin ribbons-1x lemon 1x duck egg blue like a parcel.
*insert "information card" (A4 card, folded to make A6 card, which then unfolds with map etc..)
*post in purple envelopes (found on ebay-bargain!)
Does that sound nice? And I know it's rediculous, and I know no one else will really care or notice, but WHAT colour do I use for out "information card"?! I just can't work out what would look best!
    Any suggestions?!

  • Magicboo have you tried doing an image search on google for your colours ie pink, lemon and duck egg blue wedding colours, then just scroll through the pages of images and look at any that catch your eye for inspiration. That's what I did with the pink and green and from that have an idea for flowers and bridesmaid dresses.

I think your idea for sending out your invites is great. People will be excited to get such a colourful and different invite and pink and purple go well together i think (again put it into google images and see what comes up).
  • LMAO!! Just typed "Lemon" and "duck egg" into google for colour inspiration (thank you Jezzabell!;)) and got loads of recipes!! Perhaps I should look at them for menu ideas!!
    :rotfl:
Also, forgot to say..peoples names will be written on a luggage label and attached to the ribbons..
