We don't really have to do anything as the bride is coming to set the room up then we'll just be serving drinks and cleaning up0 -
Just catching up on everyone's posts - we've been having a break from organising as OH's sister got married last week and there was enough to do getting ready for that without doing stuff for ours! Think OH was nearing wedding overload.
Clearing - your dress looks beautiful - I love simple styles and it looks just perfect
Bubbles well done of finding a reasonable photographer - we've been looking and some of the prices are eye wateringThink we have found one but still looking to see if there is one that pops up that is fabulous and inexpensive.........
What is everyone doing about wedding gifts? Are you having a list? Just interested because I've been married before so I feel a little uncomfortable asking people for gifts and we've been living together for ages so we don't really need the traditional gift list sort of stuff. Also we almost never buy brand new stuff anymore as we use Gumtree all the time so it seems a bit odd to ask people to buy us new stuff when we wouldn't do that if we were buying it ourselves. I was thinking it might be nice to ask people to do things for us instead like help make the cake or help us decorate the house. I don't have any issue with gift lists and they are really useful for guests - just not sure if it is the right thing for us to do. Am I just being weird? Think I'm having a major green guilt attack!Mortgage as at March 2010 £225,000 target for December 2012 £170,000. We have pretty much everything we need and I feel like I would rather do without than ask people for money
What we don't have we don't need, I'd quite like to use honeymoney for a honey moon.
What about asking for charity donations, you can buy goats from oxfam for 3rd world countries, that's the only one I can think of.0 -
Quite like that idea tooMortgage as at March 2010 £225,000 target for December 2012 £170,000. Blog link http://beautifulorpractical.blogspot.com/2010/07/oh-this-is-all-new.html :j0

louba what about a literal wedding gift list then, ask people to help with different aspects of the wedding in leau of gifts, it could be a logistical nightmare unless you have a wedding website where people can tick off what theyr going to do for you and if iwas you id choose what you want to happen and how then people can proceed from there, if they dont want to do that just put a note that no presents are wanted apart from your presence but if you so wish please donate to our xxxxfun(honeymoon/life!) fund or a charity you support on our behalf
i dont know what were doing yet, weve got a couple of years to think it through!I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -

I thought of the cheshirey women before, my mum went to the flower show and got a free magazine on cheshire, it has quite a few venues in it for weddings if any of you are interested? I don't know where they are in cheshire but thought they may help?0

oh no.........really struggling to sort the invites out for the wedding as I can't seem to get them right when I make them myself
Can anyone recommend anyone who is good at making bespoke invitations to a certain specification, of a short run of maybe 30 and who is relatively cheap please?
Thanks in advanceSealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

With regards to the gift list - i put this poem on our invitations
We haven’t got a gift list for all of you to see
Because as you all now we can never agree!
But if you’d like to help us start our married life
Cash or B&Q vouchers would save a lot of strife!
Apart from MIL2B telling me to not put cash on her side of the family invitations - it has gone down well - i think!
If you wanted cash/vouchers instead - just google ask for cash instead - lots came up and that is how i found mine!
As for invitations - i done mine myself so can't help with that unfortunately!
