We have to move again too so I'm scared that I won't even have the 3k left! I've not paid anyone off at all yet, I have my flowers sorted but not button holes, or cake and OH needs sorting out too

oh dear! well i dont know what you need for the move but with whatevers left you can look on ebay for a suit or matalan and asda do really nice ones for under £30
buy a bunch of carnations from the supermarket and some fern from the florists to make the button holes, carnations are the traditional ones to use you just need a little ribbon to tie them together in a bow and a pin for people to hold them onto their attire
get the cakes from the supermarket too, i see youve got a four tier one but as you said just decorate every other and put two cakes on it you could have one of those huge choc cakes on the bottom and one white iced wedding cake on the top
you could have a plate of cupcakes on one tier, decorated with an icing pen with your both your initials on and the one left over could be a bowl, sat on a plate, of flower heads floating in water
or you could even just sell the four tiered one and just have one big cake, it saves messing about with it if your not sure what to do with it

these are cheap but i cant see delivery info

Nice to see how everyone is getting on. It all sounds so exciting.

Well, OH has finally got round to buying me my engagement ring. I fell in love with 2 rings and he told me to clear off before deciding which one to get me. I don't know which one he has chosen but one was £600, which was 9ct gold with a third carat diamond in it. The other is platinum, half carat of diamonds (trilogy ring) reduced from £1700 to £800 (discontinued and last one in the shop) Let's just say the 9ct one is in my size, the platinum one was a bit small and needs resizing, and he has to pick the ring up in 3 weeks so my guess is it's the platinum one he's bought.

The downside is that now we are having platinum wedding rings which has bumped up our budget by about £500 (he insists that we are having matching rings) but we do get £100 off when we finally buy them.

Having real problems finding a venue so all other plans are on hold at the moment! Can't plan anything else until that is sorted!
Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)

Not wedding related, but I wanted to share my exciting news. I posted a couple of days ago to say I had got a new job. This was as a cover supervisor in a school. I've just qualified as a teacher so that job would have been great for a while, to get more experience.

Anyway.......I had another interview on Thursday, this time for a teaching post. I got the job! Just getting over the shock!

The problems with the venue/venues is that the 2 registry offices near us (Bradford and Keighley) are a bit of a dive so OH doesn't want to get married at either one of those. Finding somewhere that does civil ceremonies within our budget is quite difficult. Mum and Dad were going to give us £4000 towards the wedding but their plans have gone pear shaped and now can't afford to give us anything. I don't mind, I'd rather they be comfortable now they're retired but that money would have paid for everything.

Our local pub is lovely, serves great food and the manager is adorable, plus it has a beautiful garden, but OH thinks that's a little too cheap. I may end up talking him round, but finding somewhere for the ceremony is still going to be hard work :-(

Unfortunately, Bradford and the surrounding areas aren't exactly the prettiest of places and the 2 places Linda recommended are just way out of our league (1 wants to charge us £70 a head for food, with 2 sit down meals and no negotiating on price. Eeek!)

Oh well, am sure we'll find somewhere!
