Try the garden centre too, I was walking round earlier and there were some quite nice flowers plus they had florists in store you may be able to get advice from, my mum found a ready made bouquet of foam flowers earlier for 5.99, they're a bit smaller than what I wanted but we bought 3 so we can pull them apart and make 2 out of it.
very pleased at your free cake but I can't find anyone, except slattterlys, I was going to ask who you were using
I know the flowers I want and the cheapest ones are in the supermarket, so that's good for me lol!
Going to have a trial run soon, then me and my daughter will make ours on the night before the wedding.
Our cake is being made by a friend a her friend as our wedding gift so I couldn't refuse!
Before she offered, we were going to get one from either M&S (they have new ones now, they are lovely!), or here : http://www.waterfieldscakes.co.uk/catalogue.php?cid=1Shellsuit where abouts are you having your reception, how much does that cost?
We're having it at the Village Hotel local to us.
We told them we didn't want anything really formal, and would prefer a 2 course meal rather than a 3 course so they are giving us the use of their grill restaurant were we're going to have a carvery and either profiteroles or a fruit salad for dessert. That's £15 a head, which is very good value considering we're a wedding party!
Then we're having mainly hot options for the evening buffet, such as bacon and cheese potato skins, potato wedges and dips, chinese spring rolls and the likes, indian favourites with dips, onion rings, chicken satay skewers, sandwiches, garlic bread etc...
Then at midnight we're having bacon and sausage baps.
No room hire charge either, so that's saved a couple of hundred pounds.
It's not everyones cup of tea, but it's local to us which means that guests don't have to spend a bomb getting there and back ~ and happy guests = a happy bride and groom!
This is the front of our hotel :Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

I am thinking of a budget of 5,000 is this reasonable or am I fooling myself?
I'd give my right arm for £5k, so yeah it's reasonable:T:T......our budget is currently £1k to £1.5k but we seem to be getting lots of help from parents:money:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

shell thats gorgeous and the price is great!
i am mad where are you in shrops? im going over the border to cheshire to get wed cos i just couldnt find anywhere that was big and pretty enough but within our £6000 budget for 150 people, dont forget you can go to wales, some places are really nice there
direct gov has a website where you can search all the venues in england and wales
http://maps.direct.gov.uk/LDGRedirect/MapAction.do?ref=weddingvenuesI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
I am not far from Ludlow which is close to the Wales border. I have found somewhere which can accomodate ours guests. We have got people coming from all over and I think maybe Wales is a bit too far, but its worth a look though. I am excited though as I think we have found our venue!:jHas saved so much money since joining this forum, thanks to all you kind people out there :j0

What size wedding are you thinking of having? Guest wise and bridesmaids/bestmen. The reception is the most expensive so once you work out what you're spending on that then you should have a better idea for everything else0
-
Well we are having 60 to the actual wedding and then probably a futher 40 making in 100 to the night time reception.
On a change of note: what do people put on their save the date cards. I have no idea besides the date haha.:jHas saved so much money since joining this forum, thanks to all you kind people out there :j0 -
I thought it was just ______ and _____ would like you to save the date of _______ for our wedding. I don't think you need to put a great deal on them, I didn't send them, I told everyone in January and they've asked nearly every month since!
My meal is sounding like it will be about £14-1500 including drinks with the meal, welcome drink and toast, that's for 30 people but my cost per head is over double Shells. We're then going somewhere else in the evening and inviting everyone else to make the numbers up to 100, the cost for this is minimal.
Do you have any chains nearby, some do set packages?0
