I've just been told I am 'odd' As my wedding is second time around I have a 12 year old daughter from a previous marriage, and as she is a big part of our lives, we felt that as we were inviting all our friends to the evening 'do', we would let her invite two of her friends (to the evening do only) to celebrate with, as she is chief bridesmaid. However the mother of one of her friends has said she will not be able to go as, 'its too odd to be invited to a wedding' I didn't think that it was that strange???:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

franny, that's a lovely idea for your daughter and not strange in any way
what is strange is "its too odd to be invited to a wedding" to be used as an excuse not to go!0 -

What a lovely gesture for your daughter and her friends! The mother should be grateful that you want to involve their child... Poor kid...0 -

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was odd thing to do, I figured that I'd been invited to evening do's even though not really known the B&G because I was dating a friend etc, so it wasn't that odd to let DD have a boogie with some friends?? She was so excited about seeing her friends in her outfit and dancing the night away:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -

No you are not odd, it's your daughter's poor friend's mother who is the odd one - fancy saying that when her daughter has been invited to a wedding as a guest! Do you think she is miffed that she hasn't been invited too or that she has to find an outfit? (Not that a 12yo would need a mother to accompany her, she's not like a littlie!)
And anyway, I think it shows your caring nature that you have both thought about what would be nice for your daughter on your special day :A0 -

I had done the invite from my daughter to explain:
'Miss Babyfrannyann invites Miss little friend, and her parents to join her at the wedding of her Mum and Step Father to celebrate at 7.30pm at xxx'
I had included her parents as I felt that there wouldn't be anyone to actually supervise them so they could come along too. But apparently 'its odd for a child to invite another child to a wedding' and her friend has been told she can't go:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0
