  • I wouldn't feel too bad - when OH & I got engaged, our countdown was in 4 figures!

    When people were asking about plans, we hadn't made any arrangements, hadn't worked out a budget and we still had debt. To avoid the "we haven't really thought about dates" scenario, we just said August bank holiday 2011. Fortunately with buying a house earlier than anticipated (and OH accepting we can't afford whistles and bells!) we've been able to move the date forward.

    Catsy - why does it have to be a diamond? You're right, £500 on your finger tends to make you stress about wearing it and being worried about loosing it. It's a lot of money that could be spent elsewhere!

    lol we got engaged in 2001!
    babies/debt/no work put laid to our wedding plans
    its only now,with our debts nearly gone and having a higher wage than before that we can actually save something!
    we were going to go abroad next feb half term on hol but i said why dont we save for a bit longer and get married instead!
