Could you maybe find out how to tell if an IVA has been misold from the DFWs then show him the thread or link or say 'ooh look, those people that phoned you phoned these people too, it is a scam'
Bankruptcy wont be starting all over again would it? He'd have to wait 6 years to get that off his record too, plus you have to find the fees to go bankrupt, I'd imagine this company want fees to do the paper work too. He probably just thinks it would cost less and he can contribute more to the wedding or you could bring it forward.
OH has managed to pick up some plastering work this week and I've just found the station to Manchester is closer than I thought so that widens my search, so hopefully we can get back on track, fast! (he also seems to be smoking less :T)0 -
Bubble, what company did the woman ring from??Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

yeah lexxi they want fees over £1000 when it only costs £510 to go bankrupt yourself, bankruptcy would be starting over again, it takes 6 years from when your declared

THIS WAS A QUOTE ON MARTIN LEWIS´S OFFICIAL WEBSITE!
“I'd always been brought up to believe being a bankrupt was just one step away from being a burglar; so when it became apparent that my daughter was reeling from the pressure of unpaid debts, bankruptcy wasn't a consideration.
"Her debt was that bad, that even living as a pauper she couldn’t afford the interest charges. Yet still the credit card companies offered to increase her credit limit and her bank offered to consolidate her loans.
"After taking the time to research the matter thoroughly and getting loads of advice we decided bankruptcy was the best option and although it’s not a step that should be taken lightly my daughter is alive again.
"She has a genuine fresh start after seven years of increasing money pressure, and it has made the world of difference to her. Of course, she has to be careful with her limited resources but is now able to manage and live a reasonable life…and not lie awake at night worrying about money!”

how flippen cheeky of them to use an insert from this site i wonder if martin gave them permission? i was wondering how to notify martins team about it
the only thing attached was a standing order mandate saying how much over the next few months he would have to pay
they say he was mis sold it because he doesnt have any assets over £3000 but i think because he can afford to pay the IVA then he will still have to pay his creditors so much and the bailiffs will be around taking all our un necessaries!
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Could you say the IVA has been working for xx long I think we should stick with it? Is he the kind that would look into it hisself?
You could say your income is so much % compared to debts so you wouldn't be considered for bankruptcy, would that work?
Just googled consumer action and that site doesn't appear on first page, it's consumeractiongroup that does, I'd imagine they're piggy backing on the name?0 -
sorry for double posting these might be useful https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/14817190

thats ok lexxi!thanks for that link i had read it
i dont think hell be accepted for BR either as he is able to make his IVA payments i already said its working and why should he go BR when he can afford the payments, he said he cant afford it if they keep taking half his overtime which i replied he needs to tell his IP that hes struggling then theyll lower the payments-or he needs to stop buying fishing gear and petrol to go fishing:mad:
yeah i think theyr piggy backing too and in fermi's post on the IVA board its suspiciously like the one hes mentioned, looks like theyve changed their name a few times cheeky !!!!!!I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
There was an IVA forum with a thread from 2008 that were calling these guys, apparently the IVA register is/was accessible to anyone so these guys can just get details of anyone on an IVA then contact them to tell them it was missold, they don't have any of your financial detail they just try it on.
I don't know about IVAs can he pay extra to them to get it down quicker or anything like that? Is it a set amount for a set time?0 -
i read that too lexxi, ive been on them boards for the last two days since she rang, he still dismisses me though cos he wants to get out of paying what he owes(insert grumbling smily)
you can pay extra but unlike a DMP it wont end quicker but after 5 years your remaining debt is wiped clean which is way better than a DMP when youve that much debt as hed have been paying it for 20 odd years(insert:eek:smily)
he is so lucky that he has this option, alot of people dont know it exists or would rather plod along anywayI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Sorry to hear about your other half Bubbles, afraid I don't have any knowledge about IVAs and that to offer you any advice! Sure you will get through to him eventually!
After a long talk last night, we've decided to put the wedding plans on hold for just now. We've both got CC debt, overdrafts of huge amounts and I've a loan as well-totalling about £8.5k so we've decided to blitz that for the next year and see where we are then. Going to be hard but I feel quite positive about it. I've done a snowball thanks to the links from the dfw board and think I should have my cc's paid of by then. Not wanting to start married life with piles of debts hanging over us!0 -
thats why were not doing it til 2012, my DMP finishes in december (updated sig yay!) so then i can save what i was paying into that!I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0
