My Mum n Dad are staying with me for a few days until they move into their new house.
About 11pm last night I did the rounds of my 2 littlies - and said goodnight to my Dad who was watching a DVD.
At about 12.15 I heard him so a second round of the kids, then my door creaked open and he tip-toed into my room, pulled my duvet up and sneaked out again.
Guess you are always THEIR kids!!!!!!!!!
Bless!!

My son is 14 months and I don't always check on him, probably on average every second night. I never used to check him until a few months ago, He used to sleep on a movement monitor so I never felt the need as that reassured me. Since I started checking him I am sometimes known for lifting him out of his cot and sitting giving him a cuddle on the chair on his room for 5 mins. I just miss him too much

i always check my kids loads of times through the evening and if i wake in night. hubby does just the same. MY little boy is 4 and he often wakes for a wee in the evening/night but he is so sleepy still that we have often found him curled up in the laundry basket , or on the landing as he just coulnd't stay awake enough to get back to his room, bless him. it is so cute , so if we hear him we go striaght away to see to him so we can make sure he gets back to bed safely.0

Yep I always check on my just turned 4 yr old also . I always check she is still breathing and cover her up sometimes if the covers have come off .
I have also had thoughts in the past that I may have been OCD over this , as i also check to make sure she is still there and noone has pinched her ... not that they could get in the house to do that anyway without me noticing ...lol
But everyone of my mates who I know do this also no matter how old there child is .
So I think it is normal motherly behavoiur

Well said, my thoughts exactly! :rotfl:I always check on my two. Watching them sleep is the reward I get for not strangling them during the day!!
I always check on my two (6 & 2) before I go to bed - it's habit, it's lovely to see them happily snoring away, and as the youngest is still in nappies, I need to check he hasn't done a sneaky poo while he's been in bed.

I remember waking up one night as my door was being closed, i went right back to sleep and in the morning asked my mum if she had come into my room in the night, she said yes she was just checking i was ok and it was an old habit - I was 23 when this happened! haha
I thought it was cute and a little freaky. I would say do it until they're 14-16 and then respect the fact that they're adults and they know everything (because we all know, they really do know everything at that age! :A)MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -

I can't go to sleep unless I have checked on my two little angels-sometimes they stir briefly but always settle down. They look so cute and angelic when they're asleep (another story when they're up and causing mischief!)HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18
