Do you check on your children at night??

It's not long until I'm 60. When I go down to visit my Mum, I'm more than capable of getting myself into bed, tucked in, snuggled down and happy.
Without fail, my mother sticks her head around the door and if I'm still awake, mutters something about my night light, the temperature, have I got a book to read ...
She's doing exactly the same as you are - checking her child is safe and well - and if at 80, it's right and proper for her to continue to do what she always has, and as you are yourself doing ...
Daft? No and even if it was, it gives you comfort and therefore, in my book, it's a wise thing to do!0 -
Oh gosh Yes in fact am going to check on him now. I check each time i go up to the loo (not always go in but stand outside to listen to him breathing well snoring hee hee) and when i go to bed I go into his room to tuck him up and shhh don't tell OH a quick sneaky kiss on his head

I don't just check on my DD age 8, if she isn't breathing loud enough for me to hear then I give her a wee poke to rouse her a bit to make sure she is still breathing.

I check on my two year old and make sure she's covered up and in a comfy looking position and that teddy is nearby in case she wakes. Sometimes she'll be laying across the width of the bed with her legs hanging over the side, or squashed up against the wall?!
My 11 year old sleeps opposite the door, so I glance in and go and cover him up if necessary.
My 13 year old has a high sleeper bed in the opposite corner to the door, so I can't see him easily. I just stick my head in to make sure the light is off and he's asleep. Here I go again on my own....0 -
I check my 2 as well, dd is 19, ds is nearly 16. When I had my last weimaraner, he slept on my bed, and he would be through the kids bedroom doors before me, checking on the kids at night, I used to say he was like Nana in Peter Pan :rotfl: If the oh gets up during the night he always checks on ds, hes type 1 diabetic and we do check on him more often that dd..Sue0

Yup I check on my 4 yr old too whenever I go upstairs to the loo or on my way to bed.
I just make sure the blankets are over her and tuck her in. No harm in that i'm sure. It just shows that we all care :A0 -
ok I admit it... I check the rabbits and the fish and the cats if I see them lurking about...

My Parents used to check on us, well they'd get us up to use the loo as someone above does & it's never done me any harm! I'd imagine (Not having kids myself) that it's only natural & I can admit here that I will often listen in the night to make sure I can hear the Dog breathing/snoring (She insists on sleeping under the duvet!)0
