Do you check on your children at night??

I think what you do is lovely.
I have never checked on my kids ever, god I feel bad now, if they are sleep I leave them to it eek. I love my kids to bits, I just dont feel the need to see them sleeping. They are 3 and 5 years old, before they were dry at night we used to get them up for a wee when we went to bed but now they get themselves up if they need a wee. I do however still listen out for them, if I hear them get up for a wee after we have gone to bed, I listen out till I hear them getting back into their own beds. I'm dreading their teeth falling out and having to go in.0 -

can you not pop your head in without touching him so that you have no chance of waking him?
Unfortunately not. We live in a new-build and there's a kind of partition wall in his room which he sleeps on the other side of. If we stand at the door, we can't see him and need to actually take a few steps into the room to see him.
Now I know we're nt the only ones who do this by far
I'll definitely keep it up unless we start to seriously disturb him. It makes us all feel better to know each other is there and is ok.

I don't have kids but when I was ill while staying with my friend's family her mum tucked me in, it was lovely... I was 36
, Seems you're never too old for a bit of mummy tlc

Dd(8) goes to sleep with her door open and I close it when I go up to bed, so I check on her, sort of. I don't go over to her but it's a small room so she's not far from the doorway anyway.
When they were babies I would hold my finger under their noses to check they were breathing if they were very still.
I stopped checking when they were quite young though and, tbh, I don't think I'd still be checking dd(8) if I didn't need to close her door...
It's not something I worry about.
Saying that, I probably still would when I finish work at 10pm as I haven't seen her since dropping her at school and would feel the need to make sure she is settled.
I wouldn't dream of checking on dd(17) although I do sometimes knock on her door and tell her to get off the internet and go to sleep.0 -
I check on mine everynight too (5+1) tuck baby back in covers etc. I would feel really strange not checking on them before bed! So i think your completly normal!!

ive just stopped checking on my 9 year old as i found i was waking her almost every night, she used to be such a heavy sleeper that i could sneak in, cover her up etc
but lately i cant even open her door without her stirring, so i thought its best to leave her
(have also convinced her that santas stocking and any teeth for the tooth fairy should be left outside the door for the same reason)
my sons bedroom door is left open a crack but i cant open it to peep in or i would move the the thing thats holding it still (my house is on the wonk...without something behind the dor it would swing open!) and that would wake him... and as hes only just 2 he would then think its time to play!
so i stop outside his door and listen... as soon as i hear him i can go to bed

I always check my 5 yr old when i go up to bed, so does her daddy, normally give her a kiss on the cheek tell her I love her, and go to bed, she sleeps all through this! Sometimes I do stand and look at her, and think how lovely she is and how lucky we are, daft I know! (Although the other night my OH kissed her on the cheek and she wiped his kiss off her face , in her sleep!)
My son who is 16 on Saturday, I always knock on his door when I go to bed as he is still normally up, and tell him to turn off laptop/phone/tv and go to sleep!
I think it is a normal thing to do, and a nice thing too x0 -
