Morning all and thank you for your support once again :) Have been wide awake since around 1am thanks to a persistant downpour pounding the windows. Got bored of staring at the ceiling so thought I'd come and waffle away in the hopes that emptying my head of the randle drivel wedged there will help, at this stage in the night anything is worth a go.

Had tons planned yesterday. As per normal none of it happened. Decided whilst I was in a productive frame of mind that I'd do some of the things I'd been putting off for ages and so armed with two DDs a giant Cadburys Parrot and a technicolour pillow the DDs set out on a quest to find a replacement mattress for DD1s bed, you may vaguely remember me turfing the old one out at the start of the hols. As with all things we applied simple logic and reached the conclusion that simply buying one was far far too dull, especially when we could buy three and a new bed frame for DD2 as well. Cue much excitement and bedroom tidying on our return. It means DD2 has to part with her 3/4 bed which is more like a giant single than a small double but shes gaining a pull out guest bed and is already planning her first sleepover. Fortunately they all came from a local factory shop so were about a quarter of their high street price and are being delivered for free in a couple of weeks time.

Not content with blowing a small fortune on beds we also dtoured home via Macro where there whoopsied cabinet was simply superb. 18 packs of OHs favourite sausages half price due to short dates with a buy 1 get 1 half price offer that was still active at the check out. Now have enough sausages to last the remainder of the year. Also experimented with a giant boned turkey crown which was £3.40 a kg. Have sliced it and diced it and wedged that in the freezer too appropriately portioned.

Then there was the purchase of two cans of Waxoyl to stop any corrossion occuring on project Landie beore its finished. Apparently applying this every yeear also extends the chassis life quite considerably too. Its incredibly messy stuff though.

And finally my latest aquisition in my quest for a capsule wardrobe of things I bought becasue I like them and they fit properly and not because they were cheap and would do is a Wierd Fish chunky kinda knitted jumper in menopausal grandmother-of-the-bride pink. Its beyond fushia but not quiteinto the realms of shocking. More importantly I liked it , it fits perfectly and it was half price which is even better. Still thats the better part of £650 blown in a single day. At least I don't have days like that very often.

Remembered that I hadn't been to school at 8pm so pootled up there for a bit of peace, much to the DDs disgust they were told it was too late for them to go and play on the bouncy castle, dropped a couple of dozen eggs off en route in exchange for tomatoes and jam. Eggs levels in the fridge are sensible at long last. I seem to have shifted the backlog.

Could really do with getting some more sleep just so I make it through tomorrow without feeling like curling up in a corner somewhere. Was planning to do lots more painting outdoors but it looks like I'll be carpet cleaning inside instead.

Came home briefly for lunch (and haven't got round to going back yet) and discovered puppy had transformed puppy land into an indoor beach. 30kg of sand liberally strewn acros the floor. Clearly shes rolled in it, slobbered in it and eaten it as well as generally having lots of fun. Lovely.

My Mum found Alanon as rubbish as you have - I think it depends on the people you talk to, no doubt some are great but some are less than helpful... They suggested having a big party with all the alcohol in the house, and inviting them all.

As ever, I'm full of admiration for all you do. I've given up on flying lately, as lots of gardening and DIY (as well as going to work) aren't compatible with spending that much time making stuff spotless. I'm de-cluttering our window coverings, though, as we're having the windows replaced soon - no more single-glazed drafty windows for this winter, hooray (cue a curiously warm winter, obviously). Big trip to the dump to get rid of the curtains the previous owners kindly left, and saving up for ones I like!

Oooh to being on Wife Swap. Question is was I the slovenly ho who does no housework, ignores her family and generally lives in a slum whilst partying every night or was I the neat freak whose husband expects a bath to be waiting for him on arrival home? Being the ho is always the more interesting option. Although I would like a piggy wig I'd prefer a Gloucester Old Spot and I've already named some of my fictional herd of Jacobs Sheep - Baabara and Ewenice.

Managed not to laugh out loud yesterday but apparently OH has enjoyed him month at home so much that he thinks he might like to be a stay at home dad. I fear he may discover the difference between being OH on holiday and a full time doormat is a gaping chasm of laundry, toilets and other general tosh. Thing is I'm not entirely sure he isn't serious. Will deal with that if it happens. Hoping its just first day back nerves. Would be nice if we could get everything zero'd before he does it assuming he is serious then we only have to cover the essentials of life without interest payments, regardless of how small they are. Would also mean we don't need to replace my car as I could cycle to and from work. Not sure he could cope with the drop in frivolous spending money as our income would reduce by 3/4 overnight. Then again perhaps hes given some more thought to taking a short term contracting job every couple of months which would pay well but be very unpredictable. Then again perhaps its all entirely irrelevant and he'll settle back in at work after all its only ten days until hes off again.

Have a mad day planned involving two trips to the vets (final lot of stitches come out today) and extra work after work. Chances are I won't make it home until 8 tonight by which time I'll be cream crackered. Need to dig out my winter dog walking gear because it was dark when we eventually got home last night although we were having tons of fun and walked further and more slowly than normal. Ended up in a dark spot overhung by trees at twilight which bacame alive with playful bats who were buzzing past close enough to touch. Saw a few owls out hunting and a very early badger. Need to make sure I'm wearing hi-viz gear tonight though because we don't have any street lighting which makes for fab night vision but isn't too great when the very few passing vehicles can't see you. Need to sort out some hi-viz gear for the small black thing too. Preferably something that she won't want to eat.

  • She is one lovely lady and your other dog is lovely too. (I know I've said that before!)

How do you keep her clean? Does she not go in puddles/pond/water like the puppy?

HA I just spit my coffee all over the screen!!!! That picture is hilarious, how comfy does she look, but you need to tell her shes "a lady dont you know"
:j:j to bats, owls and badgers
:mad:to not being seen in the dark because the autumn is drawing in!

thanks for the comments on my diary. Funny how we both talked about the stars today. I love living in the middle of nowhere for all of the reasons you mention.

If hubbby does become a HH then perhaps he wont find the flylady list so funny as you hand it to him on a daily basis and tell him that is his task list for the day. Maybe that was what it was all about - he is building up to earn his wings!
