Further financial faux pas and even more disasterous decisions

Nothing in my life ever goes according to plan. The hour long puppy class turned into a two hour long puppy class which gives me just enough time for lunch before flying out to Vidal Assassins. Fortuanately before I left I made the DDs beds, ashed up and put the ironing away. Unfortunately I also dumped the contents of the cupboard under the stairs onto the kitchen floor and the kitchen worktop and some of the lounge too. Bah. Need a magic wand if I'm going to have it all straight by the time OH gets back. Cramming it back and shutting the door won't work because theres simply too much stuff. TIme for a 15 minute pre-lunch challenge commencing witht he vac and several bin bags me thinks.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

How's the new hair looking?0

45 minutes to shearing.
It is now possible to enter the cupboard under the stairs. Admittedly not by much but its a start. Two bin bags chucked including the drawer front that broke off the freezer 3 years back, the spare grate for a fire that was replaced in 2004 and a whole heap of junk.
Need to persuade Imelda the OH to part with some shoes. No person needs five pairs of hiking boots, especially when they never walk anywhere. May well comandeer a pair to use when walking the dog which will fit fine in winter with v. thick socks on since hes only half a size bigger than me.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Hair is duly shorn by a hairdresser who had been tango'd, clearly use of the spray on tanning booth is a staff perk... although it could also have been a form of punishment.
Had an eek Oh my god what have I done moment half way through when I realised just how much shorter it was going to be. Thinking its that short and seeing it that short are two sifferent things. Have gone from just below my shoulders to level with the hairline at the back of my neck so theres now an awful lot of fresh air between my shoulders (as well as between my ears). It does look muchly better and it will love more normal once I've washed out the bucket load of gunk which has been used to transform it into an immovable rigid mass. Hopefully the level of "body" will calm down a bit too as its been scruch dried nand resembles an equilateral triagle minus the pointy bit on top cos that really would be daft. Was far cheaper than I expected too which always helps.
Getting a bit excited about the imminent return of OH and the DDs, I'm sure the last minute bathroom blitz will deal with that. Could do with locating a duster too because all these surfaces I've cleared are attracting a heck of a lot of dust already.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Have spent the last few miutes trying to work out where the cat had wee'd only it turns out the cat hadn't wee'd at all. Have Febreezeed the trainers that were the cause but doubt that will be enough. Guess I'll end up washing them tomorrow. Bleugh.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Moo, thanks for popping onto my diary. Love your thoughts and musing. I especially love that you have the same name as my bestest friend in the whole world (Moo my Great Dane). Right only just found your diary so I am off to have a good read. 16 pages  best get cracking. I may make some random comments on my journey through the pages. Please forgive me in advance. Read the first post and I am drawn in. Just like when I go to the bookshop and always read the first page of a new author. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Blimey Cherisong, you're dedicated. I can sum it all up for you very briefly to save you the hassle:
Moos life is an emotional rollercoaster of up and down moments which has periods where her OH goes from being the person she love most in the world to the one who makes her wonder what the heck she was thinking 15 years ago when she thought he was "the one". Meanwhile total debt has plumeted and plateaued and is now firmly stuck at the £10K mark as moo decides to reinvent her outer shell culminating in OH and the DDs walking in from their holidays, OH being gobsmacked and then announcing to the DDs that mummy has a new boyfriend *!!!!!*. Precisely when moo would fit another person into her life is unclear because there aren't enough hours in the day for the things moo attempts to do at the mo anyway.
Moo is very fortunate to have two beautiful, very well behaved, headstrong daughters who make it worth getting out of bed every morning and perservering with the shoite that life throws in her direction, knowing that she'll be doing it all again tomorrow.
The haircut has not gone down well at all as far as OH is concerned. However the DDs are amazed by it and keep appearing to pat me on the head to see if I'm really as fluffy as I look. DD1 (who can sit on her poker straight hair) thinks she might like hair like that too one day. As Meatloaf once said " Two out of three ain't bad".
Now have the delights of a mountain of holiday laundry to tackle.
Todays plans involve eyetests and new glasses, have enough Clubcard vouchers to get two pairs free (assuming they're still running a bogof promotion) although even one pair would be an improvement. Not convinced OH is in the mood for school shoe shopping so may well take the DDs on my own this afternoon.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Phew, marathon reading session which was more interesting than my current novel.
Moo your summing up (just got to it after going through all 16 pages:rotfl:) was a very good summary but you missed out all of the animal shenanigans.
I have been enthralled, laughed out loud, gulped, and nearly cried. You are a very courageous lady. Your thoughts regarding your husband rang true with me so many times. I have been through the episodes that you describe. Mine however were not alcohol related. I can only suggest that when you are feeling at a low ebb and tried beyond belief then Relate are a fantastic organisation to go to. They will give appointments for you on your own you dont have to go together. They let you talk through the difficulties and help you to understand your own feelings and actions thus helping you to make rational decisions rather than heat of the moment ones.
Onto much more (to me anyway) fun stuff and I love the tales of the dogs/cats/chickens. I was torn between getting an newfie and a dane when I finally decided on a dane (simply because of the grooming of a newfie). I used to feed Moo (not his real name but what I end up calling him) on all of the top notch foods JWB, Euk etc. He had an upset tummy once and the vet told me to feed him on Chappie (dry) or Wagg. Well I tried him and he loves it, wont eat anything else and everybody tells me how good his condition is. Wagg is only £9.99 per bag in Focus!!! Saved me a fortune from the £45 per bag. I would try it if I were you. Start by mixing in Wagg with normal stuff and reduce the expensive stuff gradually.
now subscribed and looking forward to the ride. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Hair ball no. 1 is already on the Aldi equivalent of Wagg because its the cheapest decent quality food around, she started with geriatric weight loss sothis is being supplemented with 2 cans of food a day too. Stuck with the expensive puppy food until no. 2 is a fair bit older though as she needs the extra protein to cope with her ridiculously fast growth.
Meanwhile I have ordered new specs for collection in a weeks time. The DDs were worse than useless as far as a critical panel of judges go. Cries of "those are perfect mummy" before I'd put things on and more cries of "you look like granny" when I found things I liked. If they'd had their way I would have ended up with tiger striped frames which whilst v. funky on the shelf looked ridiculous on. Have ended up with a dark red pair which moderately chucky frames and a minimalitisc purple framed pair so I can alternate between serious librarian and funky 20 something clubber. OH found two pairs he liked too although some of the things he tried on made him look like a cross between Dame Edna Everidge and an Avenger. Bargantastically the eye tests were free (from Mr Ts), spending considerably more than £65 per pair got us each a second pair free and we had shed loads of doubled up Clubcard vouchers (although I'm stil waiting for this quarters to arrive...mutter mutter). Total cash outlay for four pairs of specs £109. Considering the last pair were obtained when DD2 was 18 months old I figure I should get at least six years out of these too which makes them even better value.
Purchased school socks very sensible getting two very obviously different designs which should make the whole sock pairing process so much simpler. Trying to separate identical socks into two sizes in order to pair them is a nightmare.
First two loads of holiday laundry done, bags unpacked ready to bung in the loft but as always snoring husband stops play.
The quitting smoking malarky has necessitated the purchase of yet another type of nicotine replacement product so we now have an electronic fag and several lifetimes worth of refills, an array of ridiculous plastic things that look like tampons, various stick on things, chewing gum, lozenges, mints and now some sort of clicky dispenser. None of which seems to be making any difference at all, apart from occupying a vast expanse of shelf space. Watch this space... but not too closely.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Whoo hoo payday came early! Cash transferred to the Halifax thus guaranteeing another free fiver at the start of next month. Have more cash left over than normal but I fear I haven't contributed as much to the overpayments as normal, still having a more generous buffer than normal has been a lot less stressful. I haven't had any last minutes panics about DDs I'd forgotten about exiting the account taking me overdrawn. Still awaiting a cheque from Nationwide in response to my letter closing that account. Must sit down when I get a bit of peace (says she whos just had almost a week of it) and figure out what I need to cover this month before I get carried away making overpayments that I can't afford ... again.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
