Friend has been and gone taking with her a pile of sticky labels, lots of eggs and a bag of skinless lemons left over from the cakes. In their place shes left marrows and cooking apples. Will figure out what to do with them later.
Spending an afternoon sitting round chatting, eating hobnobs and drinking coffee is most definately a very relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Will make sure I do that more often.

Have bunged yet more stuff on Freecycle. Am obviously far too impatient. I don't want to wait until next weekend to get rid of it I want it gone before OH gets back, the sooner the better.

Next on the agenda in the meandering room that constitutes half the ground floor of the house. In theory it shouldn't be too bad because its only a couple of weeks since I tackled the welsh dresser so other than the dreaded desk and a bookcase theres no much spare surface to dump stuff on. Am going to start by ruthlessly disposing of the table with the collapsing leg which is beyond yet another repair. In theory by disposing of some of the tat on the bookcase I should be able to put some of the books and magazines onto it which will neaten things up no end and allow me to figure out what we actually need. Also means I need to go through a big pile of unlabelled DVDs to figure out what, if anything, is on them.

Book shelf completed. 31 items Music Magpie'd via Quidco for the pathetic amount of £12.20 still thats £12.20 more than I'd get if I dropped them in at the charity shop, besides which its almost a third of this months interest payment. The space generated is now occupied by the various books and folders that were strewn around the desk.

Next job is to go through the stack of unlabelled DVDs to see whats on them. Have already turfed Windows 97 and 98 and operating discs for stuff we disposed of years ago. Am soooooo bored its untrue. Have to keep reminding myself that every item disposed off is one less thing to dust and the more I chuck the more chance there is of drawers shutting properly on the first attempt.

Nugh. The CDs and DVDs were full of pointless things. Wierd and unidentifiable music and lots of "those" movies. Have ditched the lot. Otherwise theres nothing to stop the DDs bunging on something v. dodgy by accident. At least thats another heap of junk off the desk. Am now entering the danger zone territory of randomly chucking everything just to get it over and done with which guarantees I'll dispose of something irreplacable.

My daddy just phoned to make sure I'm surviving without the DDs. Seems I'll never stop being his little girl :).

OH and the DDs phoned for the third time today, I fear hes findig parenting a bit tough when he has to make the mean and nasty descisions like sending them to bed before the end of the disco. They sound to be having a great time though so I don't feel quite so bad for enjoing myself even if I am doingin all the things that I've been avoiding doing for years.

Assuming the weathers good I should really pop into work to gloss a set of gates whilst theres no one around but quite frankly I'm enjoying doing random things as and when I feel like doing them.

Back at the vets for a check up tomorrow, then I have to remember to collect puppy food before the poor thing wastes away to nothingness. Should really consider doing the ironing but am tempted just to veg on the sofa watching whatever happens to be on the goggle box. Aw shucks I'll do the ironing tonight, insha'Allah. At times like this arabic comes in handy.

    Hi true27!

Music Magpie is truly truly soul destroyingly awful, the majority of stuff went for 30p but when you consider the same items aren't selling on E-bay and those that do sell go for 99p + £1 postage which nets paypal and e-bay 50p in combined fees, the post office 50p in postage and you have to pay for an envelope and the time and effort to list it, package it and post it... long term I'm better off, especially if I have to list something four or five times and it still doesn't sell. Still seems v. stingy of the Magpie though.

The one-eyed cat is back to its usual vicious self and is attempting to pounce and devour anything that moves, fortunately the ginat plastic collar is preventing her sinking her fangs into my feet but shes doing a pretty good job with just her claws. Will be interesting to see how long it takes her to catch her first mouse.

Well Music Magpie almost sounds worse than doing a car boot in a hurricane! Hate paying ebay and paypal through the nose, give me cold hard cash anyday!

Oh I doubt you'll have to wait long for that first mouse, although I expect once the poor cretin is deaded she'll scoop it up in said collar and deposit it in front of puppy and sit back and watch. I'm also the owner of an evil kitty BTW.

DS is going off with Granny for two weeks as of Sunday - I can't wait!! Are you suffering empty nest syndrome at all? Unfortunately I can't convince DH to [STRIKE]go away[/STRIKE] have a holiday at the same time though...

In no particular order I can cheerfully say I haven't missed the DDs at all. I know they're safe, they phone at least three times each day to check I'm OK. I issued them both with a top secret mission before departing. DD2s instructions were to boss DD1 around a bit to make up for me not being there to do it, to say "oooh no thats far too expensive - whadyaneedoneofthoseforanyway?" whenever DD1 hinted at buying something and to point out to daddy when DD1 hadn't brushed her teeth properly plus she had to make sure that she gave them both a big cuddle every morning when they woke up and every evening when they went to bed. May also have vaguely suggested she blow rasberries on daddy's jelly belly to wake him up if it was light outside when she woke up. DD1s instructions were much the same. They won't starve. They are having a great time, they even got to stroke penguins at a zoo which was apparently quite nice apart from the stink of fish.

Five days just doesn't seem long enough though. I'm rather envious of your fortnight. Am now wondering if I can persuade OH to take the DDs to visit his mother on his own more often. I could get used to having staycations more often. Would probably get more done if I didn't keep posting on here but five days of talking to myself would send me completely gaga.

Sadly, I work in a fish and chip shop so can empathise with them on the smelly fish issue! DS however very much enjoys anything slimey and smelly, such a lovely child. A fortnight without him however is probably going to be very strange. No doubt I'll report on quite how strange on here, seeing as I'm pretty similar to you and would go mad if I couldn't decant the contents of my head somewhere!

Quick question - is it easy to make xmas cakes?

    hi there
your thread has made me :rotfl:at times  at times and also:j:beer::T at times. Talk about a whole gamut of emotions!!!

I hope that by now the money matter ref the horrible dog has been sorted? Or did it get swept under the neighbourly carpet?

Well done on the decluttering. I know why you want to do it NOW it is so that you don't have to have OH wheedling about how wonderful x y and z piece of tat is, and how he can't possibley get rid of it (even though he hasn't looked at it for 5 years....:D) so you go girl, and get it done. You know how good you will feel afterwards
