Thanks for the Xmas cake advice! Learning how to bake is on my list of things to do.
I also need to arrange a shearing. Currently look slightly goth-like due to elbow length jet black hair (with the occasional grey strip argh) and am rather tempted to lop the lot off and go platinum blonde. Well, it would be different, right?
Glad cat is doing well and gates sound lovely! We could use someone like you at our school!
DH decided to take me clothes shopping yesterday. I think I'd take the ra-ra skirt over any of the stuff he suggested! I really don't "get" leggings/treggings/jeggings whatever they're called these days. Reminds me far too much of Saturday morning dance class when I was 5 and decided to be a tap dancer.
Did you brave the bra shop?
Baking is easy. Especially if you cheat and use the bung it all in and stir method of cookery. Theres a lot less washing up involved too.
Morticia like hair sounds fab. I could even cope with the occassional grey strip, think mines beyond the 50 percent grey mark, fear it will look worse once its shorter as its likely all the colour will be hacked out of it by Vidal Assassin. More scarily my eyebrows are beginning to resemble overgrown caterpillars... I thought that only happened to fat bald men.
Glad I'm not the only one living in fear of the clothes shops. More scary are the people wearing the things, some of them look like they're off to a fancy dress competition.
I tried tap and ballet. My mum soon realised I wasn't destined to do either. Tried gymnastics after that. Loved vaulting and parallel bars and asymetric bars. Hated all the prancing around on the floor pretending to be a fairy to music stuff.
Bra shopping is on hold until I venture to the city, any city would do. There aren't any bra shops in the immediate vicinity although I could venture up to the outlet village as there are a couple of places there. May convince OH to do that on Friday after I've spent a fortune on glasses and before I spend a fortune on school shoes. Fortunately theres a Clarks outlet there too which would obviously be the real reason for going.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
More desk tat chucked and a few other bits homed. Qualified for a £40 8 part survey which needs completing weekly until October. Bunged some macaroni in a pan to miraculously transform into Macaroni Cheese for dinner inspired by the discovery of eight pints of milk in the overflow fridge.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Once again theres nothing worth watching on TV so I ended up with a 4OD programme on Amish teenagers visiting London. It was surprisingly interesting although i could have done without the bible quotes being thrown in every other minute.
Macaroni cheese was scrummy and theres plenty left for tomorrows lunch too. Feeling tired already which is a bit odd condidering I've had a pretty laid back day. Off to school to lock up then debating what to do with my evening. Should really clean the upstairs bathroom, clear out the cupboard under the stairs to make space for 25kg of dog food, put the chicken feed I bought on monday into storage bins outside and of course theres still the ironing to do. Guess I'll do some of it when I get back although I'd rather be clambering into fleecy PJs than going to work.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Puppy is assisting in the decluttering. Whilst I've been out shes stolen and munched an oven glove. Fortunately I have a few spares in the drawer... I don't think I've quite got the hang of this ruthless chucking out thing yet.
Off to walk them in the remainder of the sun cos its far too nice to be indoors and it delays the ironing for at least another half hour.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Chicken feed decanted into rat proof storage tubs out of the way. Chooks tucked up in bed. Dogs eating dinner, ironing done and someone from Freecycle is finally coming to collect my tat, unfortunately not until 9:30pm. So much for an early night with a mediocre book and a generously proportioned glass of vino in a bedroom full of Party Lites overpriced, but rather pleasant, scented candles.
Am saving the dreaded cupboard under the stairs and the upstairs bathroom for tomorrow morning. Its too dingy in there to see what I'm doing now. Won't be painting the walls dark pumpkin again in a hurry.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Revenge is a dish best served with cold custard.
OH has phoned. After four days alone with the children, his mum and his sister hes had enough of the lot of them and wants a break. Perhaps now he'll understand how I feel when he goes away with work for weeks on end.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Just catching up - thank you for making me laugh - your bra-fitting exploits sound very similar to mineSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Having a giggle at OH and the cold custard
I'm leaving DH with DS for a whole 10 hours today so I wonder what I'll come home to this evening...

Aaah I remember the first time I did that. I came home to find OH covered in oil on the drive under the Landrover where he'd clearly been for quite some time. Meanwhile DD1 and the sofa were covered in sparkly glitter glue and honey. OH was most surprised that a three year old could move a chair, climb onto the worktop, retrieve something from the top of the fridge freezer and climb down again, stopping to make toast and honey en route.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Tis my final day of peace and I started it off by sleeping in for the first time in months.
Todays plans involve a spot of last minute flinging and a bathroom clean followed by a quick whiz round with the vac to remove several chucnks of decimated plastic plant pots and twigs from the floor. Then we're off to puppy school for coffee and cake for their weekly coffee morning come training session. Will be interested to see just how much training can be squeezed into an hour whilst I'm busy scoffing cake but I have to go because I have a headcollar on loan to pay for since I'm going to be keeping it.
After that a spot of left over lunch, whatever chores I didn't manage to do first thing and then the dreaded shearing. Still tempted to go with a bob just not one that is razored in anyway or that covers my eyes because that drives me nuts. Also (not that I want a lot) want one that can be straightend should I ever figure out how to use straighteners without burning my ears.
Still need to make the DDs beds and have a quick tidy round their rooms although since they claimed to have done this before departing its really not as bad as it could be. I can see floor for a start.
Have another four days off before returning to work for yet another very short week. DDs are at Pony Fun Day, The Crocky Trail and holiday club for a couple of days. But at least I know they enjoy it there. After that DD1 is away on Pony Camp for three days of horses and nothing but horses so need to find something special for DD2 to do. No doubt she has a few things in mind. Did think I might grab a lift to work with OH on a day when hes on a late (ie. post dawn) start and visit the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester because she loves anything geeky. Otherwise it involves me attempting to drive in a city (don't do busy places - I swear too much when I'm driving) or catching several trains which makes it an epic day out. Although DD2 loves trains too. May have to do some homework on that one or come up with something a bit closer to home.
* Edited because the hands on exhibition centre is shut for redevelopment. Of course the school holidays are the perfect time to do that. Morons. Bah.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
