I can only think FlyLady's house is already so clean & empty that it takes no effort to do anything, either she doesn't have children or she keeps them in sterile boxes only letting them out for set sessions, bed, school, supervised play etc.
That reminds me of an oddity I overheard our neighbour shout to her son some years ago "Simon, are you coming in for your dinner or do you want it in your box?" We didn't know them that well and liked to imagine that they kept Simon in some sort of boy shaped kennel.0 -
Things to slap on E-bay, who seem a bit confused about when their free listing day is. Yesterdays e-mail said Saturday and Sunday, todays says Sunday and Monday but theres noting on E-bay itself to say whats going on. Perhaps I dreamt it...... Ahhhh it all makes sense now. Turns out its an invitation only free listing day. One account was allocated the 21st and 22nd, the other the 22nd and 23rd. Very sneaky.
Anyhoo... cluttering space and destined to depart are:- 2 x Leapsters
- 2 x Leapster power supplies
- 10 or so Leapster games
- 50 or so Abacus Workbooks for homeschooling
- Loads of new Hama bead peg boards thanks to a relative who insists on giving DD2 Hama beads each and every birthday
- Lots of outgrown reading scheme books
- Huge pile of Reader Rabbit educatioal PC games
- The dreaded denim jacket (yes I know I know... seemed daft to turf it when I should be able to get a tenner for it)
- A dented Jamo centre speaker
- Couple of new cross stitch kits (gifts I'll never ever attempt)
- The remaining magazines which are almost a decade old and seem to sell occassionally for a few quid
- Wii table tennis which came with the Wii but has never been opened.... perhaps I should open it and play it first since I'm only going to get 99p regardless
- Several pairs of outgrown jodphurs
Fun, fun fun! I am determined to list the lot...Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Sounds rather cruel but v. effective. Keep trying to persuade OH to spend more time pottering about in his shed but hes not taking the hint.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
I am an airhead. Sitting here bumbling about and then realised its 9am. Mad panic ensues as the DDs have to leave for riding in 30 minutes. Have sorted out all their gear but of course this is the one day they're on a go slow and breakfast is taking an eternity. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh. Apparently DD1 doesn't have any clean jodphurs despite owning five pairs. How on earth does this happen? Could it possibly be because they're filed at the back of her desk.... and to think she was intending packing them this afternoon ready to go to camp tomorrow.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Managed to get to the riding lesson early which is a miracle. DD2 had a fab lesson and was cantering into corners and walking her pony sideways and backwards. DD1 was ecstatic just being there. Shes so excited about Pony Camp that she can't concentrate on anything... but is still only half packed. Aparently we're baking courgette cakes for the midnight feast despite only having marrows in the fridge.
Cat has finally been discharged from the vet and is allowed to roam freely round the house, meeting the other animals calmly over the next few days before being allowed outdoors for the first time in almost a month.
Seem to have got loads done despite this although none of it was indoors, it was just too nice a day. Lawn is mowed, patio, path and drive are weedkilled and OH spent another hour shotblasting axles. Hes almost at the half way point on them. Seems to be taking forever.
Now have to rummage around in the loft for tents and sleeping bags and foam mats and whatever else is essential for a whole two nights away.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Finally reached payout on Virgin bingo only to discover the barstewards have finally enforced the no deposit, no withdrawl rule. Have wagered the entire 20 quid by buying a single ticket for every game they have in the next 24 hours. Hopefully if I win something I'll be able to withdraw. If not the only thing I've lost is my time. Still it was jolly good whilst it lasted.
Need to get the DDs moving at warp speed this morning if we're to stand any chance of being out of the door by 7:30 if not earlier. DD1 was far too excited to sleep and was still pottering about doing essential things like adding more teddies to the pile at 11pm. Eventually threatened her with not going if I heard another peep from her room. Thankfuly it all went quiet after that.
Spent last night baking courgette cakes. Am more than a bit sceptical about lemon courgette cake, even the crumbs tasted a bit odd, chocolate courgette cake is a whole different matter though, that was surprisingly tasty. DD1 is planning on taking both to camp. DD2 has other ideas which include cakes at her sleepover not that she has any guests coming but just in case she decides to have one she needs cake. DD1 is outraged that her younger sibling is planning on filling her bedroom with stray 7 year olds whilst shes elsewhere.
Horse riding is just down the road from the areas biggest car boot sale. Did consider wandering around it with DD2 because the vegetables are usually sensibly priced but, as usual, my wallet is home to nothing but bits of plastic. Can't be bothered playing hunt the functioning cash point. May well suggest we bung her bike in the car and go to the park instead. Far more fun and shes less likely to bring random carp home.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
At the risk of sounding like Mr Peter Kay
"Courgette" "Cake"??????? !!!!!!???Start Date: 27/11/2010

Ok so its a tad unorthodox but since a courgette is a vegetable surely a slice counts as one of my five a day. The demonic daughters are happily chowing their way through it and it did use up an entire marrow for which my heaving fridge is eternally greatful. There are only so many courgette omlettes that a person can eat.
DD2 got carried away at seed planting time and so we have traditional green courgettes, yellow courgettes, stripey courgettes, round courgettes and round stripey courgettes. In theory three courgette plants will provide sufficient for a faimly of four to eat for the majority of the summer and autum. Since we have a heck of a lot more than that I'm trying to find alternative uses for them, even tried feeding them the chickens but the ladies were not amused.
Haven't won anything on Virgin Bingo yet and am locked out of my account because my balance is zero. Guess that'll stop me playing the free scratchcard by accident.
DD1 has been dumped at camp along with a dozen others. They all look exhausted already. One field has been set aside for camping, in the midst of it the kids were playing rounders using the tents as bases. Am now v. glad that DD1 is using an arhaic tent from Grandadds loft as its unlikely to survive the experience.
DD2 decided she wanted to come home, watch telly, eat cake and then go blackberry picking in the hopes of making blackberry crumble and possibly jam. Making the most of this time by sitting on my bum surfing, studiously avoiding e-bay listing. Third load of laundry of the day is in the machine. Am going to tackle the DDs bedrooms at some point in the hopes of making life a teeny bit easier for the reshuffle caused by the eventual arrival o DD2s new bed. Both DDs have far more clothes than they need, a lot of which no longer fit. Hoping a couple of hours in there will make some minor impact. Also want to see if I can wedge the contents of DD2s filing cabinet into our other one and then we can rehome that. Really shouldn't need 4 drawers worth of filing for a single house. May regret attempting this though.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
