Hallooo again. Grabbing a v. quick lunch between dropping cat off at vets and picking up again minus stitches. Got v. little done so far today. Have got a bit too used to bumbling around doing my own thing so having to get the DDs out of the door at 7:30 came as a bit of a shock.
Don't think OHs view of stay at home parenting involves cleaning. Not even sure he knows how. At least he can cook which is a bonus since he does more than his fair share.
Discovered we have a ladies marathon going past the house a week on Sunday. That'll be fun then. Better still the organisers have told participants that theres ample parking on route and have specified lay-bys for useage. These same "lay-bys" are generally known as "pasing places" because the road isn't wide enough for two vehicles. Better still runners are predicted to pass us about 10:45am which is about the time the moo coos go for a 1/4 mile walk between fields. Will make sure I don't try to go anywhere then because it will be impossible.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
OHs boss's minion is a merchant banker with slightly less use than Sir Edmund Blackadders Baldrick. Apparently tomorrow he requires OH to be at work for 5:30am which means getting up at 4am, he then requires him to work for a bit in the morning until they run out of things to do after which he can pootle off, unpaid, returning around 6pm to work until 11pm and getting home around midnight and then repeating this on Friday. No overtime payments, just his standard working day but as a split shift to fit around the whims of the delusional supervisor. Needless to say OH is just a bit cheesed off. Theres also some big meeting next week where H.R. and the big bad boss will be dropping by for a 2 hour discussion. Of course this is on OHs day off and failure to attend is not an option.
Stress levels in the house are rather high at the mo.
I did have a very chilled out day though. Started gloss painting schools fence, I can manage a very respectable 1.5m per hour. Boss has okayed me to paint whenever the sun is shinng which means I get to avoid classroom cleaning..... whoopeeee.... bet hes seen a long term weather forecast predicting rain for the next fortnight.
Cat is home and happy. Now have to remember to massage some cream for treating udder infections in cows onto her scar. Sometimes its better not to read the information leaflet.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Moo, sounds like a nice job painting fences in the sunshine NOT :rotfl::rotfl:
Poor Cat, I always feel sorry for the furry ones after trips to vets. Me thinks she deserves extra cuddles and hugs.
No wonder your OH gets stressed with working conditions like that. He must be exhausted as well as stressed. I hope that the current situation doesn't result in an alarming post from you tomorrow. Perhaps you could think of some kind of activitiy as a diversionary tactic from his stress. Obviously that isnt to say that you shouldnt acknowledge how Kack he is feeling but perhaps giving him an important (you couldnt possible manage it) kind of job will give him another focus. How about the cow udder stuff with the cat:eek:

No alarming post this morning. OH was too cheesed off to do anything but go to bed. Hes seriously considering handing in his notice. Can't say I'm surprised. I couldn't put up with that sort of treatment at work either. Its not any fun being completely exhausted 6 days out of 7 and then being harassed into giving up the 7th day just because. If he can stick it out until Christmas then he'd get the next bonus but I'm not sure its worth putting himself through it for the sake of the money. If he were to quit today we'd have 6 weeks more of his income before life commenced on mine alone. I still have the option of more hours at work, I could increase to 40 a week, problem at the mo. is this is unfair on the DDs however if OH were home parenting I could go in much earlier each morning which wouldn't affect the time I get to spend with them. Might be that we can manage without it if he can find a weeks contracting work each month or a job locally, if hes not paying out as much in fuel we could manage with a big drop in salary. Guess its just a case of wait and see.
My brain is on overdrive thinking up every possible scenario, its the not know anything for certain thats driving me nuts. I could live with him saying enoughs enough, at least then I'd have something concrete to work with. It has made me more determined than ever to hammer the remaining debt as that will be one less thing to worry about. After that we'd only need to find the cost of living each month and then make whatever teeny surplus remained stretch to whatever else we wanted to do.
Anything is possible with a bit of determination, of course a winning lottery ticket would help too.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Only planning on working till lunchtime today and the same again tomorrow which should give me chance to FlyLady my little socks off. Seem to have stagnated half way through the list with the result that I haven't done a thing at home since Monday and it shows.
Got a call from the opticians to say my glasses are ready to collect, am hoping the frames complement the glossy red streaks in my hair. These "mse highlights" are actual streaks of red gloss because I am a very very messy painter. Lookslike staying dry today so I will be adding to them. Also have an outbreak of red spots on my face and arms which are destined to be there for quite some time.
Seem to have more cash than I should in my everyday account. Need to check that I haven't forgotten something before I transfer a chunk to the overpayments. Post holiday credit card bill arived yesterday and is considerably smaller than normal which is most excellent as I've made up for it this month.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Aaaaaagh. Have just swung round on my chair and stepped straight into a cold heap of earth thanks to somebody upending a plant pot at my feet and playing with the contents. Now have a damp brown muddy patch on the carpet which is destined to be disposed of v. v. shortly. Its too early for this!Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Postie brought lots of wonga. Nationwide current account is now firmly shut meaning I only have three current accounts to play with.
Managed an impressive 5 hours at work almost all of which was productive. Another 5m of fence is now gleaming. May well go in for a few hours over the weekend whilst OH is at work to get a bit more done as I'm not likely to get chance next week. Hoping to get the area immediately visible to parents done before term starts but this involves a fair bit of pruning to find the fence first.
OH is attempting to sleep although not for long as the kitten is hiding behind him whilst playing peekaboo with puppy, won't be long before puppy gets a bit carried away and launches herself at him. Tis v. funny to watch though.
Cheated last night and loaded the dishwasher in the hopes that clearing someof the mountain of dirty mugs would tidy the place up. It did a bit. Going to tackle the laundry mountain so that DD1 can pack for camp. It may only be three days but apparently she needs three changes of clothes per day. Also need to venture into the loft to unearth her tent and sleeping bag and whatever other essentials she demands. Would much prefer to be wandering down the road with the pooches eating blackberries although I'd have a fight on my hands as the puppy loves blackberries and will even brave a nettle stung nose to get to the more elusive ones.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Moo
Have you worked out how long realistically it would take you to pay off the remaining debt if OH were still in work? If you did this as a joint venture could you suggest to OH that as soon as it is paid off it would be easy(!) for him to give up work....sometimes knowing there is light at the end of the black tunnel is enough to keep you (him) going.
You say (in a round about way, so its his idea of course) if we sell these vehicles and you can bear to keep working for a further ?? months we could still aford to pay the bills and you could give up work????
Just a stab in the dark, may be worth a try??

Evening Moo,
Glad no alarming post arrived today. Perhaps sleeping is the new way of dealing with being stressed. Wish I was there to see pup launch herself at the kitten. I can just imagine the cuffuffle. Laughing at the thought. I love the sound of your job, it sounds quite physical but at the same time therapeutic. But then I guess the grass is always greener.
Thanks for the suggestion on my diary re the envelopes. Why didnt I think of that?
I used to love having a dishwasher because it could hide a multitude of sins. I also love the picture you paint of wandering down the lane eating blackberries. That is my big bug bear here, there are no blacberries. I moved from the middle of a town and I used to get loads of blackberries up there by the allotments and made lots of jam and pies. None here whatsoever. Although shush dont tell anybody, there is an apple tree at the garage in the village that has shed a load of apples the last couple of days, so, during my PJ walks in the middle of the night last night I filled two carrier bags full! Not sure what kind they are definitely not crab apples. I am going to make apple sauce for my bran muffins and I might look up some other recipes too. Any suggestions gratefully accepted. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar.
