Oh yes indeedy. We're the very poor relations, the ones she doesn't like other people to bump into if at all posible. Not helped that I don't speak like I have a silver spoon rammed up my jacksie. My accent always seems to be more gutteral and considerably more northern in her presence. Sure its my subconcious way of self preservation kicking in but even OH complains that there are times I open my mouth and he doesn't understand a word of what I said. I'd never normally respond to hello how are you with "ee, nowt but fair t' middlin' " of course this usually starts DD2 off with a rendition of "On Ilkla moowah b'aht at" and my dads favourite statement "eeh ba ecky thump does't that know granny" which winds her up a treat.

OH is a v. happy boy. He detoured home yesterday via some geeky store and purchased a new graphics card enabling him to play Call of Duty. Quite why he also felt the need to purchase a new case remians a mystery.

Whilst he was out he purchased a few bits for the DDs stockings, most of which is boomeranging back to the store. Quite why he thought DD2 would have feet the size of a toddler is beyond me. At least he had the common sense to show me straightaway rather than wait until x-mas eve to mention it.

Enjoying the last 30 minutes peace before collecting the DDs from th stables where they've spent the day mucking out. Togged them up in thermal underwear and three layers of clothing before wedging them into ski suits. Just hope they didn't need the loo in a hurry.

Woke up this morning to find the snow has disappeared to be replaced by freezing fog. Those trees that I can see are covered in giant icicles but I can barely see 10m. Driving is going to be a nightmare again.

Had a v. odd weekend. Riding was cancelled so instead the DDs went to the stables for a days theroy classes and quizzes and general horsey stuff with their friends which gave me five hours child free peace. Did have lots planned but abandoned all hope of this when OH was still in PJs at noon tinkering with the inards of the PC. Punished him for this by draggin him x-mas shopping yesterday with the DDs in tow. Theory being we'd take one child each and allow them to purchase gifts for the other child. Of course Oh decided this was naff and wandered off in each shop leaving me with a child either side of a poile of goodies attempting to decide if their sibling would like whatever it was without the sibling seeing the item. In several places this meant queeing up to pay twice whilst OH was spotted sulking in various corners. Really wish I hadn't bothered. Would have been easier to go twice taking a different child each time.

Kept being presented with clothing to try on because it appears hes decided I need theraml lined torusers. Of course this is a v. sensible suggestion but I don't want sensible gifts *stomps foot*. I have enough sensible clothes to last a decade. Fortunately even he could see that the stuff in question didn't fit for a variety of reasons, mostly that the shops he was looking in only sell standard length gear which was too short.

Did find a finely knitted charcoal grey tunic that was somewhere between a v. tightly knitted long jumper and a short dress in Fat Face but having beeen ridiculed about it didn't stop to try it on. Will be going back there on my own with my confidence firmly intact to try it at some point over the holidays. The fact its not something I'd normally wear is precisely why I want to try it. Whats so hard to understand about that?

Despite this the DDs managed admirably and each came away with a few gifts which were wrapped last night. Just wish I was having as much luck. Have yet to find anything at all for OH but thats mostly because he keeps walking in the door with stuff hes just bought for himself. That said the most recement stements have turned up with an unexpectedly large reduction of just over 2K compared to the previous month, am pretty sure thats because theres still a good grands worth of cheques still to come out but can't find the cheque book to confirm this. Still a reduction of any size in the run up to December is always good.

Sold two more items on Fleabay for a further £25. Couldn't be bothered with this weekends free listing. Have had enough of Ebay for a while.

Plans for today involve lots of housework in the hopes of staying warm as its minus seven out again. School Christmas concerts start today so its going to be another very very long hectic week. At least it stops me getting bored.

Well done on a pre-Chrimble reduction in debts :T:T:T

I also decided against Fleabay Free Listing. Mainly because it's a long walk up a long hill to our local Post Office and if the Deep Freeze continues here I'll need skates to attempt any movement out of the house...

Bah. In my excitement at the sudden disappearance in snow I forgot all about the weeks worth of dog turds liberally strewn around the garden since the things steamed there way through the snow and were promptly covered over. In daylight there was more poo than available ground space. On went the gloves and the scarf and the wooly hat and the thermal undies and the thermal trousers and the coat like a duvet and out came the hammer and shovel. On the bright side frozen turds do not smell. Unfortuantely they are firmly stuck in place and have to be wallopped with a hammer before extraction is possible. Tis like a v. warped game of croquet. Was v. v. cold by the time the lawn was clear. Being a lazy moo I didn't venture much beyond the top section of the garen that can be seen from the house. Was just too cold. Clearning the next section is a fun filled job for later today.

Spent a happy half hour wrapping pressies. Have realised just how few things the DDs have to open and have upped the pre-christmas panic level to mild. The sum total of all gifts doesn't fill a carrier bag between them. This isn't because the gifts are all small, its because theres sod all in there. Eeek. Don't want to buy things for the sake of buying things but this is beyond a joke. I forsee a trip to the outlet village being on the cards next week.

Plans for today involve cooking 14 turkeys for I am in charge of lighting the ovens and overseeing the first three hours of cremation befoer cook arives in school. Will also have to deal with a lot of cheesed off teachers because some imbecile went running round telling them we were in for amhoosive amounts of snow and school was guaranteed to be shut today. The boss and I were in agreement that they were all barking because it was too sodding cold for snow. At its warmest yesterday reached minus three. We're now back below minus ten. Again. Wish we had snow. Its sooooo much warmer and safer than ice.

Will be freezing slowly to death tonight in church whilst we endure the school Christmas service. This will be the third time I've seen it this year, but the first as a parent which means I get to sit down for the duration. Sounds good in theory. Bet I end up getting roped into something though. Yesterday I got to prompt the Year 2s as they sang Little Donkey which sounded great when the words were thrust at me only the entire thing was in Welsh and my pronunciation was nothing like the actual welsh. Apparently Litttle Donkey (Asyn bychan) is pronounced as-an bi-(vomit impersonation)-k-an

I gave up at the bit about there being no room at the inn which loooks like this on paper :

Dim lle yn y gwesty, dim lle yn y gwesty, dim lle yn y gwesty i deulu bach mab duw.

    Nope I don't have a clue either.

Plans for today involve eating real food at some point. Managed a v. small bowl of cold pasta with carrots slathered in mayo followed by a bag of honey roasted peanuts for dinner last night shortly before bed. Far too late when I got home to be bothered.
