    hi there
seems like you are having an entertaining time over there at the moment.
I love your description of the way your puppy slinked onto your bed. I bet your lower extremities let alone your feet!

Why will she be sharing a room with you soon?

The four legged fiend gets to share a room with us because we're off to visit OHs mum. Words cannot describe quite how much I'm looking forward to it. Apparently she wants to discuss with him, in private, the things we'll need to bring in order to totally confuse the DDs and spend Christmas Day with her without actually being there on Christmas Day. If you're confused by this just think how I'm feeling. She doesn't send them cards on their birthdays, she hasn't been here since DD1 was born, she won't speak to me on the phone and yet we're going to have a jolly happy family Christmas with her. Shoot me now. It will be far less painful. Bah humbug.

Meanwhile its now gloriously sunny outdoors despite a constant fluffy dusting of snow. Its all v. pretty. The downstairs fire decided to spontaneously combust whist I was out so its marginally warmer indoors than out although I'm sure a puppy on my feet and a kitten tucked under the blanket on my knee has a fair bit to do with that.

Puppy had a much better night right up until OHs alarm went of when she decided that this was the singal that the four horsemen of the apocalypse were invading the house thus letting rip with a v. deep and rather scary rumbling growl followed by ferocious barking. V. impressive, unless of course you were trying to sleep through it.

Hoping for a v. easy afternoon at work as school is running at half capacity although Early Years is almost full. Clearly battling throught the snow and ice is worth it to gain 2 hours peace from the demands of a 3 year old. Parents seem to be in most excellent moods which is why the local builders merchants are delivering a freebie snowshovel to school for me to play with tomorrow. Have also wangled a sledge at cost which is being delivered at the same time.

Next on the agenda is figuring out how to remove the "random pictures of things I was looking at recently" from my E-bay homepage. OH logged in last night and was most surprised (and rather excited) when it flashed up an Ann Summers police lady outfit (you may well snigger TPA!). Had to disappoint him and tell him he would not be getting one of those for Christmas nor did I want one either. Had to do much explaining which didn't go down well either. Cue a chat which goes No, its not for you.... Of course I don't want one... umm well, actually its for somebody else..... God, no I'm not going to be wearing it.... oh yes, that went down v. well indeedy.

Am commencing mild pre-x-mas panic mode.

Need to have completely finished all my shopping in 18 days time and find birthday pressies for DD2. Why have I only just realised how close Christmas is? More to the point swhy am I completely clueless on gifts. Have diddly squat for the stockings and very little else for the DDs. Fortunately OH has purchased his own gifts as instructed but still need to find him a birthday pressie. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAgh. Have no ideas whatsoever and random surfing isn't helping.

Normality resumed briefly yesterday when the sun shone and the snow on the roads melted. Admitedly v. shortly after this the temperature plummetted adnd the liquid snow froze so the roads are now sheet ice. Am not looking forward to todays trip to school. Discovered many new features in the car on my way home last night. Jack hammerring of the break pedal is coupled with a wee blue light that says ABS. Admittedly this occurred as I was sailing past the end of my drive at a snails pace coming to rest a further 12 feet down the road, but at least I stopped. Eventually. More interesting was the little yellow light with a picture of a skidding vehicle which springs to life with an accompanying bing bong. Can only assume this is to remind the driver that they are now facing in the wrong direction having completed a 180 degree pirouette. Either that or its marginally less scary to be looking at the dashboard wondering what the !!!! all the little lights are dancing about for than it is watching whats going on out of the window. Made it home with two minor spins which fortuitously occured on wide sections of road. Driving anywhere today is going to be rather scary.

Did take the hairballs out for a wee trip to the postbox yesterday but ended up looking much like a dog sledder minus the dog as the four legged fiend took off after a squirrel with a v. excited geriatric hairball in hot pursuit and me hanging on to their leads being towed v. rapidly over the ice. Was muchly fun but am v. v. glad I'd didn't meet anyone or anything else. One last E-bay parcel awaiting payment before the next batch of listings end.

Progress is being made in the bedroom department. The four legged fiend now sleeps quite happily on the floor until OH appears and then she spends the majority of the night attempting to crush him or lever him out of the bed or lever him out of the bed whilst crushing him. The instant he goes to work she settles back in the doorway. Hes getting rather annoyed by it all.

Plans for today involve avoiding freezing to death as its way below minus ten. How much below I haven't a clue as the outdoor thermometer refuses to work beyond that point. Am needing to defrost the chicken drinkers at least twice each day but as yet haven't had any winter related demises.

Looks like another day of domestic drudgery in the hopes of keeping marginally warm. You'd have thought that the house would be spotless now but sadly not. Seem to be guilty of moving piles of carp from one room to another. In fact the only minimalistic places in the house are DD2s room and the food cupboards. Seem to be eating much more than normal which isn't surprising given that the DDs are busy sledging and building snowmen every chance they get.

OH is stuck at work in the middle of a blizzard. Sounds like hes planning to camp out there for the afternoon and then either head homewards and hope or more sensibly head to the nearest Mrs Ts for emergency undies and book into a hotel. Have bunged sausages in the slow cooker for the DDs tea and am making the most of his absence with a spot of on-line shopping. Have purchased a Wii game each for the DDs which will fit snuggly in their stockings. Just need inspiration to hit in order to progress further. Am thinking a couple of small bags of sweets and some thick socks would be sensible.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Have all my extremities crossed in the vaguest of vague hopes that North Wales is blasted with a deluge of snow in the next hour or so. Failure to materialise means the dreaded school tat sale aka the x-mas fayre will go ahead. Am in full blown bah humbug mode. Really really really don't want to be stuck there until 10pm. Worse still is the idea of the DDs being stuck there till 10pm haemorhaging money on manky second hand toys that they don't weant or need but buy just because they have money burning a hole in their pockets. Then I'll have tomorrows grumpyness to look forward to. Oh joy.

In v. positive news puppy school has been cancelled which is rather fortuitous as I wasn't looking forward to treking up the dirt track and over the frozen ford to class. Had planned to get as far as the nearest major road, abandon car and hike the last few miles but am saved the hassle. Will take them for a walk in the fields instead, its far safer underfoot than the roads.

Rather amazingly the postman made it this far yesterday for the first time in almost a week bringing with him a huge pile of post containing a shower gel and an awful lot of bills. Had a coal delivery too so will be warm for at least the next two weeks. Just as well really as the fires are running 24 hours a day just to keep the background temperature at something approaching warm. Still sitting here wrapped in a blanket despite this. May be seeking out some fingerless gloves in which to type if it gets much colder though. Tis v. pretty out though.

I suppose 'forgetting' their purses isn't an option then? On the other hand look at it as a life lesson. Let them spend THEIR money on tat, and when later on in the week they want some money for x, explain that is why they should have not spent so much at the xmas fayre:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Probably meant their local depot was so full that they had to attempt a delivery today...

I wonder how many people are going to have real problems paying their fuel bills this winter. I read somewhere recently that 100's of old people a day died last winter from cold related diseases, and of course this year is much worse much earlier...

Your christmas plans sound horrible. How can you be there and not actually be seen. Is she planning for you to be in one sitting room and her in the other or something. Sounds very bizarre to me. I am not sure you need good luck to deal with that, but probably a cast iron miracle. On the other hand you could be so obnoxious that she bans you from ever visiting again.....:D:D. Or is that unfair on DDs?

Sadly no more snow fell yesterday so ended up stuck at school till 10pm. As predicted the PTA did a runner the instant the raffle was drawn leaving a selection of teachers and two parents behind to clear up. Gave in at 9:30pm to get the DDs home in the vague hopes of them getting enough sleep. Fortunately the tat was so abysmal that even the DDs didn't want to shop and so we got away with a tenner between us which went mainly on food and books and the obligatory trip to Santa.

Overslept this morning. Feel like shoite and have the aftermath to deal with. Lovely. Looking forward to that like a frontal lobotomy.

I'm sure our trip to Grannys won't be that bad. After all its not actually Christmas and I have over a decades practice of ignoring the fact I'm being ignored and continuing like everythings perfectly normal. Usually spend lots of time walking the odgs and even more time in her swimming pool with the DDs so don't actually have to be in her presence muchly long at all.

Local news headlines are full of cases of hypothermia and people jumping into lakes after dogs but freezing to death in the process. Biggest problem seems to be stupidity. Random healthy people going for rambles in the snow only to slip, break a leg and be stuck there because the air ambulance can't get to them and mountain rescue volunteers get injured on their way to assist. Almost makes you want to hibernate until spring. Esp the posh 4x4 brigade... the lot that believe that because they own a Porsche off roadster they are infallible and can drive through snow drifts and down untreated roads without actually ever having got their glorified car dirty on anything other than tarmac before. You'd be amazed how many of those are abandoned side on in ditches on the untreated lanes.
