I was hibernating under the duvet for the day. Twas so chuffing cold, in fact this mornings balmy minus 7 is positively bikini weather in comparison. DD1 spent the day fully dressed with the addition of her dressing gown and a bobble hat under a heap of blankets on the sofa whilst DD2 kept being threatened with the removal of her DS if she didn't at least wear a jumper.

In a vague attempt at keeping warm I have done tons and tons and tons of housework, anything to keep moving and keep some feeling in my hands. Have had all three fires going non-stop all weekend but its still been far too nippy for my liking.

Listed a few more bits of tat on fleabay having fallen about laughing in amazement at the sheer lunacy of it all. My used Wii Fit game eventually sold for 50p less than my new WiiFit Plus cost. Several others sold for considerably more than I'd paid for them and a pair of old waterproof toddler sized dungarees that I was given yonks ago that both DDs have worn went for £15. How mad is that? About a third the stuff disn't shift but that considerably less than I was expecting. Total profit to date is in the region of £80 which ain't bad at all for a load of stuff I was going to donate to the school fayre. Have had one muppet claiming he bid in error and won't be paying depite having bid on several occassions over a number of days. Agh. Why do people do that?

Plans for the day are some what minimal. First I need to get to work which given the road outside is like an icerink could be interesting. Did attempt to walk the dogs yesterday to see what it was like but gave in after 20 minutes when we were still within sight of home. Will be attempting to drive to school in the hopes the vaguely major roads are OK although this adds about five miles to my trip. Am assuming it will take an eternity too.

Need to remember to pack a hot water bottle so that I can defrost the padlock on the main gates otherwise theres a chance I won't be able to get into the building. Had to defrost the lock on Friday just to be able to come home.

After that OHs car is in for a service at a garage several light years away. Simply need to get there to pick him up. Am assuming that will take me most of the morning. As a bonus this takes me past the door to a supermarket so may well feel the urge to nip in. Also need to venture to the feed store for chicken feed as they're eating almost double what they normally scoff.

In vaguely more entertaining news puppy is officially 9 months old and was allowed to sleep upstairs for the first time ever. Mini panic condsidering she'll be expected to share a hotel room with us in the not too distant future so we need to get the excitement over and done with.

Things went swimmingly. She walked upstairs v. calmly, ran round like a loon and then settled down to sleep. Perfect. All apart from her settling in the middle of my bed. That wasn't on the agenda. Much "get off my bed dog" was yelled followed by me sitting next to her smelly blanket and her settling there whilst I rubbed her chest. The instant I returned to bed so did she. Meh. After an hour of this I gave in and went to sleep allowing OH to have the pleasure of turfing the dog off his pillow later in the night. She did eventually get the idea and slept on the floor till around 2am when she managed to slink onto the bed in the way only a 7 stone dog can slink before dropping like a stone and snoring. Still its the warmest my feet have been in ages.

So are things with you more icy than snow? We've had more snow in the last two days than in the Big Freeze of 2009 and I'm currently trying to work out if there's any point in packing for the trip I'm allegedly making to Ireland this afternoon. Our airport is closed due to all the snow at present.

20 minutes worth of snow on Friday, noting since then its been too cold. Everything is covered in thick layers of ice. Am wrapping up v. well to ensure much padding of the bum in anticipation of falling over a lot.

Came a cropper in North Wales on Saturday, wrote my car off by performing a less than perfect 360 degree skid off the road and landing in a farmers field (detailed description on my thread). All ok though (until I see Dr this afternoon that is)
Cat Poo. well that is slightly better than my GSD that I had who used to eat his own. Vet reckoned that some dogs just do that and he said at least it wasnt horse poo which some dogs like. YUK. He also said it doesnt do them any harm. Still its not nice to have them breathe on you 2 seconds later.

Blimey that must have been scarey cheri.
    Take care.

WE had thunder & lightening with our snow.
    Very unusual I think.

Glad you and Moo are Ok Cheri. Thats my worst nightmare though. Theres barely any mobile reception here so we'd be waiting for help from a passing somebody if we couldn't hike to somewhere we could make a call. Makes me think twice about going anywhere with the DDs in the car, especially if one of them is injured and I'd have to leave them to get help.

Meanwhile its marginally warmer her today which means its been snowing - whoopeee do! Whilst its v. sparkly outside its not deep enough for the boss to decree the shutting of school which means I can't stay home and play in it. Equally it means its not worth cleaning out and lighting the fires so the place is soooooo cold. Am sporting a blanket over the fleecy dressing gown and pj combo.

Did very creatively do some hand washing yesterday on the baiss that whilst my hands are in hot water they thaw out. Bunged them on the outside line to drip before bringin them in to dry. Shouldn't have bothered though. 20 minutes later it was all frozen rigid and dripped indoors whilst thawing. Still at least the hand washing is now done.

Wrapped and posted several gazillion E-bay parcels. Am clueless why people do this for a living. Its so tedious and time consuming. Wasn't overly popular in the village post office either. Apparently monday is pension day so I had a geriatric lynch mob muttering very loudly about me. Seems the older people get the ruder they get too.

OHs car left the garage with a Do Not Pass Go notice. Have had to order four new tyres for it which should arrive and be fitted today.

Managed to find some chainsaw trousers to fit OH. Four sizes smaller than anticipated. Am now v. glad I didn't order any from t'internet. Whilst this means that hes less likely to become an amputee in the near future it also means I blew £250 yesterday and look like spending about a third as much again today.

Plans for today involve wrapping the final few E-bay parcels although I've still a couple awaiting payment. Also need to make sure we get moving early so as to crawl as slowly as possible over the frozen lanes. Its going to be such a fun day!

As someone who uses public transport a lot, it always amazes me how someone with a walking stick and a limp can suddenly put on a Usain Bolt-style turn of speed when given the chance to push their way to the front of the bus queue.

I will always let a pensioner go in front of me in the queue, because that's how Mama Fresian raised me, but rudeness gets right on my t*ts :D
