Nooooo not upset TPA, although you did get me thinking which wasn't a bad thing. Had I scrolled down the page I would have twigged but ou were on about and laughed but 3am is never a good time for being confuzzled. Thanks for all the offers of couches tis most generous of you all and muchly appreciated but I'm not going to solve this by running away although the thought is a v. nice one.

Have added the Doc Martens to the x-mas prezzie wish list ...in red ... will be making the second item on the list a v. short slutty skirt to go with it and the third a t-shirt reading "mutton dressed as lamb". Not entirely convinced that blowing £115 on a pair of completely impractical shoes is the solution to my woes but since it works for Lula and ShoeGal I'm happy to give it a go. Just hope they make 'em in tranny sizes cos I forgot to check that.

Meanwhile finally finished off the kitchen and celebrated with posh (and v. out of date) spicy chilli coated tuna and cheese on toast before checking that DD2s Mario Karting works properly. Several fun filled hours later we haven't been able to find anything wrong with it and so have wrapped it so she doesn't find it before then. Have 10 minutes left to blitz the heaving welsh dresser before returning to the grindstone.

Ugh. Feel like I haven't slept at all which really isn't surprising given that the house is being battered from every side by monsterous winds. From what I can see from the window the wrapping of project landie have come adrift, several trees have lost limbs and the roof felt on OHs shed has been torn off. Hope the wind drops at some point today because trying to patch things whilst its still gusting will be a nightmare. Am v. glad I gave in and brought the washing in yesterday despite it being damp otherwise I'd have been playing hunt the laundry in the hedgerows. Will be amazed if schools greenhouse is where I left it.

Spent last night with a crowbar removing chunks of plasterboard before attempting to dry water from carpets after school sprang several leaks one of which is in the new extension so will be calling the builders back in first thing. Also need to get a man with a giant sucky machine in to clear whatever debris is making the drains backup and flood classrooms. At least it hasn't rained much so things won't be any wetter than they were when I left yesterday.

In most excellent news I'm being paid to perve. Knew there was a reason I loved this job. Off to the local fire station on Friday where I have been double dared (yes teachers are a childish lot) to ask a fireman if I can slide down his pole and play with his helmet whilst keeping a straight face. Bet the bunch on shift are less like the Dream Boys and more like the chap from the pie commercial that parodied a Leisi ad.

Had a deluge of post from school. £20 for school photos, £4 for school dinners, £2 for the poppie appeal, £5 plus goodies for Operation Christmas Child and an as yet unknown amount for school fundraising calendar which the DDs apparently want to give everyone for Christmas. Then theres the staff x-mas dinner #2 which I'm planning to avoid by going to alternative staff x-mas do #3 with the dinner ladies. Finally there was a request for outgrown uniform to resell in order to raise funds for children in need. Obviously money grows on trees.

Plans for today involve coping with whatever overnight catastrophies have occurred at school before coming home and doing the same here. Also plan to continue chucking random dumped carp from the welsh dresser before tackling the desk and issuing death threats if the culprits don't sort out the dumping ground that is the landing. Also need to remind DD1 that if birthday thank yous aren't in the post tomorrow she won't be getting any Christmas presents. Fun fun fun!

Got the statements together for the end of month bleughness. Its not as bad as I'd feared and the interest isn't quite as steep as I'd anticipated but we're still back over 20K which is rather depressing. Looks like you're stuck with me until Christmas 2012.

Spent two hours at dog obedience with the class in stitches. Not only has puppy mastered sit and down but shes also taken me looking her in the eye to be the cue to launch herself onto my shoulders and slobber across my face. Turns out this is a show of respect and the trainer was adament that I shouldn't tell her off for it but instead should just not look her in the eye. Yeah. You try telling a dog what to do when its facing you without looking at it. Its not easy. Especially when the dog in question has a 30m run up and is not content with coming to a sit at your feet. Ended up flat on my back covered in slobber laughing like a manic. My homework for the week is to find a way of rewarding the puppy for what shes done without going over the top. Then she spotted the puppy using my finger as a chew toy and got even more confused. The pooch has three rear teeth emerging through her gums (hence the chair leg chewing) and has decided the only way to alleviate the pain is to put my hand in her mouth and direct it to where needs rubbing with her tongue and then sit there drooling whilst the gum is massaged. Apparently I shouldn't have bonded that well or earned that level of respect so soon. Seems like you just can't win. Still at least now I have a vague idea why she hurls herself at my shoulders when shes really excited.

Made it home even later than normal to be greeted with a tree swaying drunkenly in the wind with a definate shed-wards lean. Tethered it to its neighbour before lopping off as many branches as I could reach from a set of ladders in order to reduce its volume before choping through it with the tediously slow back up electric chainsaw. Resorted to sawing through by hand in the end when we discovered the trunk was wider than the chainsaw blade. Will now need a couple of dry days to clear up and log the debris ready for next winter. Looks like its movement has loosened at least one other tree so may well be doing more unexpected pruning before the end of the day. It has let tons more light into the garden but its absence means the winds feel more ferocious than ever.

Plans for today involve firemen... oh yes indeedy... which means I have three hours in which to avoid doing everything I usually avoid doing in a day between visits to school. Welsh dresser is progressing slowly. Theres an unbelievable amount of junk on it and in it so its taking far longer than normal.

Have reached the conclusion that the only thing separating firemen from the inmates of the asylum is the uniform. The lot of them were barking and manic to the point that they made 90 extremely over excited small children look calm. Then again I don't suppose any sane person is going to hurl themselves into a burning building for fun several times a day. Kids asked their normal array of questions with the finale from a five year old who made the female trainee go beetroot red by asking how she managed to wee with all her kit on in the middle of a fire. Wasn't allowed to go down the pole thanks to the presence of the health and safety bod and failed miserably at kidnapping a fireman to appease the office staff. It was a v. good afternoon out though.

Spent the morning at Macro taking advantage of some extremely well priced goodies and laughing at the sheer lunacy of paying three times supermarket prices for stuff. Got 10 pints of milk for £1.50, 600 firelighters for £14 which is at least two years worth but infinately better than paying £1 or more for 15 butthe bargain of the week is a giant pot of Options hot chocolate heaven for about a quarter of the normal cost making it cheaper than the horrible supermarket stuff that I usually buy because I can't bring myself to pay £3 a jar for nice stuff.Still means I need to venture out to purchase loo roll but hopefully not until the middle of next week which is just as well because my bank account is looking rather pathetic and its still a very very very long time until payday.

Plans today involve riding lessons and e-bay listing as its free this weekend. Hoping to list everything in the box under the desk in the hopes of getting shut of it all. Can probably find a few other bits to get rid of too if I try hard enough. Its so tediously dull though although I do appreciate the cash when it eventually shows up.

  • 600 firelighters for £14

I read this as 600 'firefighters' for £14

Goes back to TPA land where these things would be normal.

    Moo -

DO NOT put those fab kinky red patent on your christmas list. Buy them for yourself because you like them & you earn your wage & have you ever wondered exaclty ahwt your personal spends ratio is to that of your OH ?

I would imagine he actually only manages to spend so much on his own toys because you spend so little on yourself.

If you were to spend /stash the same amount as he spends on his alcohol & landy then I would guess that you'd be either fantastically stocked in patent FM boots or have enough dosh put away to kick the idiot out & find yourself a new younger model :rotfl:.

Seriously though - having a 'running away' account is absolutely all the rage these days ...'
