Meanwhile a further 14 man hours was spent erecting and dismantling random bits of the greenhouse. Despite being hindered by the instructions it is now firmly attached to the base and has a watertight roof although it was very windy last night so whether the roof remains intact is another matter entirely. Thats half my working week gone so far with not a lot to show for it. This has to be the most confusing contradictary flat pack build I have ever attempted, harder even than the Struxx Dinosaur that we had the misfortune to purchase for DD2 last year.
Still it has meant being paid to spend two days outdoors bumbling about which is infinately more fun than moving furniture and scrubbing floor which was my alternative plan for yesterday.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Loving the cat, looks just like my cat Baloo who is unfortunately now residing at Rainbow Bridge. Really funny the puppy doing the mothering bit. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Spent a v. frustrating morning attempting to do things on line only to be kicked off every 30 seconds even when just sitting at the pc willing it to work. Unplugged everything other than the PC even resorting to changing the filters on the phone line and hoiking the whole kit and kaboodle across the house to the BT master socket on the off chance puppy had eaten a cable somewhere. Even swapping to OHs netbook didn't help so I resorted to making that phone call. The one to the help desk which starts with the dire warning that demanding the presence of an engineer who finds a fault within your home will cost £99 plus vat. Lovely. Got a very helpful chap by the name of Rashid in some far flung corner of India who had difficulty understanding my accent resulting in much "I am vely solly I am not understanding you" (far funnier when you imagine this said by a person who looks like Apu from the Simpsons and wobbles his head from side to side like those naff plastic dogs on the back of car parcel shelves). Two hours and three different departments later having done all the things thay needed me to do which included recabling everything... am most glad we never chuck anything out.... I got to type a kill sequence into the PC at the same time the techno nerd typed something in at his end and voila via DOS reset prompts I'm now running twice as fast as I was without any glitches whatsoever and better stil the random PC crashes seem to have stopped. Still two sodding hours of my life gone though.
Meanwhile OH still has holiday to use up so we're off to visit hiis mother and have also wangled another week off during the school hols. Of course this meant a minor change in plans from the "ah !!!! it we'll send 'em school photos and a fundraising calendar" to "eek we'll actually have to get 'em proper Christmas pressies" which then saw us hot footing it to the Boots x-mas event. Rather more cash than I would have liked later I now have presents for four but still have to come up with something suitable for his mother. Sadly arsenic is no longer available over the counter or over the internet from dubious third world sources either. Suggestions on a postcard please.
Dropping the DDs at a restaurant in the middle of nowhere later on today once they've packed. They're off to spend a weekend with the wrinklies which means I have three days until they return and Granny has an epi at the state of the house. Looks like a spot of domestic drudgery is in order.
Have blown the remainder of my Clubcard vouchers ordering ferry tickets for the impending trip. Am anticipating another £50 worth which need to be spent by Dec 6th in order to qualify for the 4x voucher offer before its reduced to 3x. Am vaguely thinking of ordering next years RAC membership a mere nine months early but then have to remind myself next September that its already organised and paid for otherwise I'll end up covering myself into 2013 without realising it.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

EDIT: thank you its all booked now, along with my flu jab!
You so don't want to get those things muddled up !!!!!:eek:And I am glad if I get one person to do their checks.
And M2M yes you have to die of something. But what about next year? When your daughters are still young. What support would they have from OH, or his parents? They don't support you now do they?
I am with cherisong now, a few seconds discomfort for life with your daughters. How difficult a decision is it?
Would you forgive yourself if 20 years down the track one of your daughters comes to you white faced to say she has terminal cervical cancer, and you say but you got your checks didn't you, and she says BUT YOU NEVER DID MUM, SO I DIDN'T BOTHER.....
Sorry will get me coatI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Chev, I love the quotes in your signature. I might just borrow them if that is ok?
Moo, you make me laugh so much, you really do cheer my day up. Are you an author incognito? I ask because your writing reminds me of an author whose books I have read, trouble is I cant remember her name or the name of the books other than they were girls names. I am so convinced that you and her are the same person. If not, then please consider writing a book and I will proof read it if thats ok.
Must go and google that author now (ooer missus)Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0
