Floozie's spendy elves enjoyed their brief trip to Scotland and unexpectedly turned up on my doorstep. I can't think of any other explaination for my sudden obsession with bidding on Weird Fish jumpers on E-bay. Perhaps they're feeling a bit jet-lagged at the mo because so far they haven't managed to make my frivolous clicky finger function correctly, either that or the other bidders have a more extravagent version of spendy elf in residence. Harry Potter has a lot to answer for!

Would try the mutliquote function in order to reply but the PC is suffering random and unpredictable freeze and die wobblies which is more infuriating than anything. It does liven up the whole E-bay bidding thing. Not only can I hold out on placing my bid till the last few seconds having sat watching the clock count down for five minutes so as not to distract myself and miss the auction but crucially will the PC crash eating my bid as I hit the confirm button. Tis a sad state of affairs when thats the most excitement a girl gets.

Am thinking perhaps the spendy elves are related to Dr. Who and thus can be in several places at once in addition to being able to travel faster than the speed of a stealth fart in a crowded room full of v. posh people in dinner jackets.

Spent a whopping £11 yesterday on postage a vino. Annoyingly one of the two identical parcels weighed 20g more than the other and so one went winging its way first glass signed for for £3.50 whilst the other cost £4.41 and will take until Friday to land with no proof that it got there which is most annoying. She even weighed it three times to see if the scales could be persuaded otherwise but sadly they weren't having it. Meh. Still the £3.99 vino saved me paying for a days childcare. Instead I abandoned the DDs at Pony Club for a days mucking out which was freeeeeeee and which they both enjoyed. It also counts towards next years summer camp which is equally good.

In even better news they have selected the newest member of the household, a small grey and white mewling bag of claws to replace the Ikea'd kitten which will be coming home with them tonight... meaning I have to source kitten food and milk asap but since OH has kindly volunteered to collect them I'll leave him a shopping list. Just need to remind him thats its one bag of claws and not two when the DDs attempt to persuade him they need one each. Also need to construct a puppy proof playpen in a vague attempt at keeping puppy away from kitten[STRIKE]s[/STRIKE] whilst it settles in.

Phase two of project greenhouse continues today. So far only 12 working hours have been spent and yet it has no door, or roof or glazing. It does however have the most complicated instructions ever and the cheapest fixings imaginable since we've managed to shear two bolts so far, one of which I did with my fingers when attempting to tighten it up. Cheap and nasty ugh. Page two reads "repeat the instructions on page 1" neglecting to say but of course since this it has a sliding door the end result looks nothing like the item on page 1 and uses completely different holes... in fact the only thing the two panels have in common is they are a collection of bits of metal bolted together so as to form the same external shape.... the bits in the middle look nothing alike and so any further handy written hints should be ignored as being irrelevant.

Think the best bit so far having followed stages 1-23 to the very letter was to turn the page and discover the note on step 24 which read "please skip stage 4 when building the larger models".... which mean deconstructing the sodding thing to remove the bit that we'd fitted in error several hours earlier.

I fear another long and very unproductive day awaits me.

A cunning spot of improvisation involving some lino, a fireguard and a shoe box ensures the kitten cannot climb more than 3 feet up. Shes less in danger of being eaten by the puppy than she is drowning in a sea of slobber. Puppy has come over all maternal and spent a happy ten minutes washing kitten on arrival before carrying it round the house occassionally plonking it on the floor to slobber over some imaginary dirty patches. Had a blissfullly peaceful evening as the usually mad puppy lay by the kittens cage whimpering to it and attempting to wash it through the bars. DDs are ecstatic and are attempting to persuade us to name this one Storm or Flame or even Charlie. Expected it to yowl all night since it yowled non-stop all evening but thankfully it had exhausted itself and decided to stay quiet. Perhaps its learnt already that any noise summons the puppy for an impromptu wash.
