Great post viva. I am very convinced that the child benefit cut was a great example of the art of gesture politics - in a way the middle class upset and headlines was exactly what the tory spinsters wanted - the poll showing widespread support for the measure shows that the whistled for dogs did hear what they wanted to hear - I even wonder whether the use of a higher rate tax cutoff rather than household income was all part of the political calculation to gain maximum impact?
Can't afford waitrose, don't like Morrison or Asda because of other shoppers (oops, who is not bigoted now) but also because I know sains well so know how to shop cheaply there plus I am a bogof tart and think sains although slightly more expensive in general can be cheaper for a trolley if you buy their deals each week. I am also a big hotukdeals fan and often nip in to morrisons, tesco or asda to pick up their special offers - and the odd online shop when there is a good discount voucher on - for example ocado occasionally send me 20% off if you shop this week vouchers and then using only their deal and teco price match offers and a free delivery slot can easily save 75 quid off what would be a 150 shop at their standard prices. Our local morrisons was a lot more upmarket when it used to be a safe
way and didn't use to have such annoyingly long check out queues.
Of yes - Sue - I have seen cases of the NHS referring people with high level OCD for intensive private treatment because the NHS did not have a suitable programme but the private programme was known to be effective - have you the energy to badger your GP / health authority / PCT may be your MP could help if you get no joy?I think....0 -
Certainly, I think the Tories are masters at divide-and-rule.
It's a shame it works so well.0 -
Whereas Labour tried to push most of the population in to some sort of 'dependency' on benefits - 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other methinks.I think....0

Cat watch part deux...
One of my neighbours took cats to vet off own back today. Skinny but not ill. Has taken to feeding them. Owner has definitely gone on holiday and left them to fend for themselves. None of the local sanctuaries have room sadly. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Grr just made a really long post, pressed the wrong button and it all disappeared!
But thanks for the suggestions guys.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
silvercar, I hope you won't mind me mentioning you here - I know you dislike my views on landlords and it is a bit reciprocal but because I agree with you in so many other areas it isn't something that we need to take personally (well, I hope you don't anyway).
Agreed. The fact that our view in other areas, particularly education, are so alike actually makes me listen more to the arguments you put forward in other areas.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
