Unfortunately, I can't think of any valid reason why my dentist would be involved, but it was a nice fantasy to wake up to. Thanks! :);)

Perhaps she was having trouble with some fencing posts and needed someone to come round to dig some holes. She only fills them.
My, it's a hot day too.... surely you're a bit hot in all those clothes??? Speaking of filling holes.....

    That kind of thing?? :rotfl:

For what it is worth, I think the politicians and economists failed to realise that the universal child benefit had an iconic status, as it recognised a woman's special status as a mother. Perhaps the most important job that any human can do - if they do it well and responsibly.

It also gave the "stay at home" mum her own financial status, that made her feel an individual not just a "kept woman".

In an ideal tax system the money should have been simply deducted by income tax from the father.
    Q1 Are you a father?
Q2 Are any of your children under 18?

OK you pay a "father tax".

    Now watch the sparks fly!

Perhaps we should turn it the other way round.
    Q1 Are you a father?
Q2 Enclose birth certificate of your child aged less than 18.

You have been excused the mother subsidy tax and entered onto the father database, which is available for freedom of information searches.

What ever happened to the child support agency anyway?

Have been v busy with work, but is this debate still ongoing? I stopped posting on this a couple of days back - I've made my point and am happy with that. I shall continue to make my point, as I think it's a very importat issue - but to my MP and other forms of direct protest, rather than to a small, unrelated online forum. I recommend anyone who shares my views does likewise. When I have time, shall post some links to relevant people to contact and things to sign, for those interested.

Can't really spend a couple of mornings on here without needing to get on with work - snowed under at the moment, so shall love you and leave you, now. :)

BTW, John, liked your ideas v much. :)

Sorry, I can't believe you haven't noticed that they are still going on and on about it. You may have lit the touch fire and retired, but they don't let go.

Really? I don't have time/can't be bothered to look.

I had a good 'vent' the other day - got some of the fury out of my system.

What's left I have no intention of wasting in circular arguments - I shall put it to good effect in campaigning for the removal of said changes. Me and an awful lot of other women, from what I've seen online. Don't forget this affects the educated middle classes, and their children - and we're not ones to take things lying down, especially where it concerns our children.

I think they picked the wrong target to mess with - hence Cameron's apologies and backtracking all over the place.

Don't forget middle class women are one of the bedrocks of Tory support - they really don't want to lose us. We're the people who actually bother to vote. And who are organised and online.

    Should be interesting.

Edit: When there are 3.6% falls in one month, I'd have thought the board had other fish to fry... Or is this a way of trying to detract attention from that? Hmm.

Better that way. They were attacking you quite personally at one point.

On the crown currency exchange thing, has anyone investigated whether s75 of the Consumer Credit Act gives a right to action against credit card companies for FX exchanges like this, where people bought their foreign currency in cash?

Won't apply here as CCE didn't take credit cards.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Grrr. Keep it out of the Nice thread...all of you!

I too value Gen...I love Gen, and he knows it. I value him the more that we can disagree on stuff and still communicate like normal human beings.

Carolt has ''vented her fury'' and, kind of like I said at the time, that first day was a human gut reaction...she's calmed down. Sheesh...talk about casting the first stones round here! I reckon the best coordination we have is that the first stones get thrown ''altogether now'' simultaneously.

Has anyone noticed this late indian summer? Its BLISSFUL here. The endless sky is blue as a dreamboats eyes and the grass greener than it has been all summer. I've come in from out side now and opened all the windows and the house is filled with criss-crossing draughty breezes scented with the felled wood..and, um...cow. Its not warm inside...this house has a tendency to trap the cold in, but its fresh and bright and delicious, and I'm planning our weekend to do list. I like to have the weekend list finished before Friday so that I can get a head start on it sometimes...it makes e feel I've hit the ground running on Saturday mornings, lol.
