It's beginning to look like maybe they didn't hedge their bets. Maybe they were trading the cash in on the foreign exchange markets and didn't cover their 4rse maybe just once. In which case, it turned into a ponzi as they tried to make up the losses/differences, against a backdrop of the market falling ... so never catching up.

Else - they knew and planned it and it was a ponzi/fraud.

Little detail coming out of the liquidators at the minute because there's so many contracts and it's all been in cash/cheque/bank transfer.

    Barclays had their accounts.

Lots of TV coverage on here, local news, since late last week ... national news, not much of a peep so far.... they've really missed out on what is a big story.

It was on the BBC news tonight - odd as it was on here yesterday.

Apparently they never hedged or took contracts, so it was always a risk that currencies moved against them. Their max exchange was about 10k, so some of the stories seem to have been exaggerated.

OH deals in currency quite often for his work, He's never heard of them and says that it is obvious that your money isn't protected with outfits like this. ::p

Any of you silently reading the Crown threads? It's got its own board now. I've been reading loads of stories all over the Internet, people's personal stories of what they've lost.

    Poor bugg4hs.

I think people didn't understand how it might work and just thought it was currency exchange at a good rate... esp as it was in Martin's emails and on his Top List.

    Board: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=202

I read half the thread last night - more than enough.

It is sad, but after Farepak, Icesave & Kaput-thing (those internet banks in.. Iceland).... DTA = Don't Trust Anyone. Especially if it looks too good to be true, gains you only a little extra for significant capital risk ect.

The director or someone involved in that currency exchange transfer business looks to have a bit of a past history. I only check on this thread occasionally because I can't be nice on things like that.

I hope Gen doesn't disappear, I really like his inputs.

I've no idea what you lot are on about, whatever/wherever it was I obviously didn't read that one.

Edit: Think I'm onto it now... re 'racist', was that a one worder, then a red face and a yellow face? I'd have just ignored it as it was clearly said in jest. In jest because [a] that's how I read it (and I'm always right) and the yellow smiley face.

For what it is worth, I think the politicians and economists failed to realise that the universal child benefit had an iconic status, as it recognised a woman's special status as a mother. Perhaps the most important job that any human can do - if they do it well and responsibly.

It also gave the "stay at home" mum her own financial status, that made her feel an individual not just a "kept woman".

In an ideal tax system the money should have been simply deducted by income tax from the father.
    Q1 Are you a father?
Q2 Are any of your children under 18?

OK you pay a "father tax".

    Now watch the sparks fly!

Perhaps we should turn it the other way round.
    Q1 Are you a father?
Q2 Enclose birth certificate of your child aged less than 18.

You have been excused the mother subsidy tax and entered onto the father database, which is available for freedom of information searches.

What ever happened to the child support agency anyway?

I propose a Willy Tax. And, tax is paid on length, details to be publicly available.

There you go ... solves that one then. Who is going to say they have 2" now?

I'm not sure it's that simple.

    Who would do the measuring?

If it was my doctor I'd be OK. :)
My dentist would put me in the super tax bracket.

    Hmmmm........:blushing:

Unfortunately, I can't think of any valid reason why my dentist would be involved, but it was a nice fantasy to wake up to. Thanks! :);)

Yes, it was clearly said in jest.
