At least you found out after your holiday, Sue. You deserved to have a break, without worries.

Growths can increase very quickly. The one inside our ferret, Wilf, grew pretty fast & we decided there was no point prolonging things. I didn't quite cry in the vets, but I did later. Then, when I found out what it all cost DD2, I felt like crying again.

When pets go, they leave a hole in our lives out of all proportion to their 'status.' I always take comfort from the thought that they probably wouldn't have had a better, happier life anywhere else. :)

Hi sue, I hope your cat gets better.

This is weirdly cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvLkjuYunRw&feature=player_embedded although he has too much time on his hands.

    Thanks everyone....

The vets have managed to drain some fluid from her lungs and test it, she apparently has some infection cells in the fluid so she is also being given antibiotics. She is having to stay there overnight and they are hoping she may be slightly better in the morning to be strong enough to have a sedative and then have xrays to investigate this mass and what ever else is going on.

She was far too ill to do that this morning ( and is still too ill right now) and would probably have died as her breathing was so laboured.

I still don't think this will have a positive result though.....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

It's not good news, leaving home in 5 minutes to go to the vets and say goodbye to elder cat as she has to be put to sleep.

The tumours are too numerous, the fluid on her lungs too bad and her heart function too poor for her to carry on, so we are doing the kindest thing for her and stopping her pain.

I'm not too bad at the moment but I know I am going to be a mess later.

Ouch... well, that is a real shame, but I think you are doing the right thing. It is horrible when a pet dies.

Horrible for us, but for them, simply a quiet drift into sleep.

Memories aren't taken away from us, Sue. Chin up. :)

She went very peacefully, she was ready as just us holding her was making her struggle to breath even more than she had been and she was gone before they had finished giving her the injection, in fact, they had barely started it when she passed away.

The boys are all upset, youngest especially so which is quite hard as I can't comfort him properly...he hates personal touch but he did allow me to give him a short cuddle.

I'm absolutely devastated and can't stop crying but know it was the right thing to do, she was struggling so much to breath that she just couldn't go on, even for a few days until nature took its course.

Thanks everyone for your kind messages...time for me to be with my boys for a time.

Possibly not the right time to say this, but I so wish we could do this for humans. I've hated seeing relatives of mine in agony prior to death.

On a lighter note, how much is acceptable to spend on a skirt?

I have fallen utterly, irrefutably in love with a v. expensive skirt.

    I want it.

I have spent the last two days berating myself and not reaching for my credit card.

I now understand the pixels on the DFW board.

I spend loads on clothes but this would be utterly ridiculous........

EDIT Sorry about this post, I thought we would talk about clothes for a bit then Sue would come home from The vets and we would sit, all folded hands and heartbreak.
    Timing obviously isn't my forte.......
