I think I need a new mattress, after two weeks of sleeping brilliantly, I was awake at 3.30, boiling hot and not that comfortable. I did manage to get back to sleep again after a cup of tea and a read but only for a couple more hours.

Mind you, I may have slept a little longer if eldest son hadn't closed the door rather loudly on his way out to work!

My elder cat doesn't want to talk to me right now, think she is disgusted at being put into a cattery and ever so slightly annoyed with me but my younger cat won't leave me alone and will meow loudly as soon as I am out of his sight.

Garden? Wilderness more like! Brother has had rather a lot on his plate while we have been away and so has not been able to get up to sort it out, so the grass is pretty long, the bushes overgrown but everything looks very healthy...mind you, his happiness is more important than my garden, so I don't mind.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

How lovely to have lir back, even if briefly. Hope it won't be long before cooker, internet and new "system" are all in place, lir. :hello:

Great that your holiday went well, Sue. Hope the "rested" effect lasts for a while.

I too am back from a week's holiday in a caravan - in a field with no electric hook-up. I bought a second-hand iphone from a bloke at work just before I went, so I've been able to keep up with a few of the posts on here, but didn't manage to post much. The mobile internet connection was rather slow, and the MSE pages are so full of links that I found it hard to scroll up and down without accidentally clicking on something. It was a good week away, though.

The next thing for me to concentrate on is Tuesday, when nine-year-old son will be having his operation to remove the metalwork that was put in his arm when he broke it in the accident that killed late-nearly-ex last November. They hope he will be able to come home again the same day, but obviously only if it all goes smoothly.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Oh god, that's awful... I didn't know any of your kids was with him when it happened... that'll live with him for life. I hope he doesn't feel in any way guilty (e.g. wasn't arguing or stropping right before 'it').

My thoughts go out to you ... well, sod you (even on the nice people thread)... but to your poor 9 year old - and I hope he comes to terms with it OK.

I was reading about one of the twins who survived his grandfather's boat being blown up by the IRA. He was 14 at the time, his twin was killed in the blast. He said it took 25 years to come to terms with.

    Lovely to see lir back.
Glad you had a good holiday Sue.

And, for my 'good news', things are 'getting organised' in my empire, I'm almost on top of straightening it all up - and I appear to have a 50% uplift in earnings over the last week or so. But no idea if it's something I did, or just a blip! Comparing stats to the same time last year, my earnings would have been down by 30%, but as I've strived to find new things/ways to add to my portfolio (multiple streams of income), overall, it's up.

I seem to have over 1000 ad slots running, delivering nigh on 1million ads/month I think (from memory), using/promoting over 500 companies/ad networks, on an unwieldy site that probably has 150 pages. That's quite a lot to have sorted out/organised. Nearly there though... then I can get back to actually producing new stuff (articles etc) rather than consolidating old stuff.

Thanks PN. They were both with him.

6-year-old daughter was awake and remembers everything. However, she was sitting quietly so nothing to feel guilty about. She got off with only bruises.

Son was asleep and then concussed and can't remember anything between everything being fine before he fell asleep, and being in the ambulance afterwards. He broke his arm and also fractured his cheekbone but that healed without treatment.

They both know it wasn't their fault. Wasn't his fault either - he was on the correct side of the road but the other driver wasn't. We are putting the blame on the terrible weather conditions.

They both seem remarkably unaffected by the trauma of the accident itself - it is the bereavement that is the big deal to them. A few months afterwards, I was driving and they were fighting in the back. I couldn't get them to behave. I pulled over and explained that I really wasn't safe to drive if I couldn't concentrate and said they must calm down because we didn't want another accident in our family. They cheerfully replied that they hadn't been distracting Daddy when he crashed, with the implication that crashes were nothing to do with distractions and therefore distracting Mummy while driving was nothing to worry about. :(  :wall:

ETA Extra smilies added by daughter!

I too never realised they were involved in the accident. Must have made it even more traumatic for you.

Not a good start to the week, my elder cat has had to be admitted at the vets with heart failure, secondary fluid on her lungs and the vet can feel a mass attached to her gut.

Goodness only knows why this hasn't been picked up before, she was only up at the vets 3 weeks ago for an annual check and vaccinations, then 2 weeks before that for a check up after having an abscess on her leg and a week before that as an emergency with breathing problems and the diagnosis of her abscess.

I must admit to bursting into tears in the surgery, I'm a big softie with things like this.

Oh Sue, how terrible. Animals (particularly dogs and cats) are part of the family. I'm not surprised you burst into tears.
I know this isn't a huggy forum, but (((hugs))) from me.
