I came to your news late yesterday. Very relieved to find on 'turning the page' that your Dad is on the mend so quickly. Such positive news backs up the recent TV campaign on recognising strokes and the desirability of quick action.

Will be thinking of you & the boys.

Single Sue, I am sorry to hear about it, and hope things get better.

On the TMA issue, I would send a short email to your tutor explaining the situation; I am sure the tutor will be sympathetic. Unfortunatly, these things happen regularly, and there are things your tutor can do to put the deadlines back so you don't have to worry about it.

Anyway, best wishes to you and your family.

Sue, I agree with tomterm8. I did an OU degree for my first degree. I had two major family events happen (the death of my grandfather followed by the injury of a family member in a major event) and my tutor could not have been more supportive in giving me TMA extensions. IIRC (its a while ago now) with the OU you get your course tutor but you also have an overall tutor responsible for mentoring. It could be worth speaking to them too. Another option is DH had to go into hospital, so rather than an extension he missed a TMA and they worked out the average of the other grades. The sooner you speak to them the sooner you can be assured that this is one less thing to worry about and that you can focus your effort where it needs to be - on your Dad and on your kids and Mum who probably need a lot of reassurance. Good luck hun. Thinking of you x

Hey nice people, not sure if you have heard that Inspector Monkfish's daughter took a turn for the worse. :( Also that someone is running to raise money for the illness his daughter has is running in London Marathon. If anyone doesn't receive the email from I.M. and wants the details please feel free to ask here and I'll post it up.

Your swish is my command LJ. Below is the copied email.
Many of you have asked to be kept updated with Daisy's progress.
So, just to let you know, unfortunately she still remains in The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, now after almost 3 months, still completely unable to eat anything orally.
We did have home in sight, until she took a major turn for the worse the weekend before last, so it now feels like we have taken 20 steps backwards, and she won't be coming home anytime soon.

My wife and friends run has now raised around £12,000 for PORT, and we are still waiting for more offline donations to come in.
So thanks once again to everyone that helped out.

I know many of you were extremely generous to have donated before, but as many of you also indicated that you would like to be notified of any more fundraising events, I would just like to mention that one of the runners that ran the Brentwood half-marathon with Tracy, is also running the London Marathon this weekend, again for PORT. (Lisa Pohl)
Please kindly take a look at her fundraising page here, and feel free to make a small donation if you so wish:

Right, as well has this, I'd like to say thanks for all the well wishes I have had. The power of positive thinking has really helped me, and silvercar and LJ might be right in the dehydration thing, I drink water like a fish, but I have been being more active and it has been really warm so I maybe have been not meeting my own needs.

any way, today I had almost everything on my to do list done by lunch! I have to things left as ''to do'' today! And it was an impressive list! I'm so very grateful for days like this, where everything works. Health is such a precious thing.

Just a quick pop in, right now I don't know when I am coming or going!

Mum is not coping at all well, I'm shattered and youngest is very very unsettled...thanks to everyone for their well wishes and advice, it is very much appreciated.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Just got through to my tutor and have taken an extension of one week, to be reviewed next Wednesday to see if more time is needed. She was lovely and knows exactly what we are going through.

Further news, my dad is so much better compared to yesterday, obviously still quite frail and at times, a little confused but still amazing to what he was yesterday...he is now up and mobilising, he is able to walk to the toilet on his own. The staff are amazed with how he is doing so far especially bearing in mind the size of the clot (very large) and the area it impacted on.

Meanwhile, I am absolutely shattered, every step feels like I am trudging through sludge, I can't think straight and my appetite has completely gone....well if I even got the time to eat anything in the first place! I have spent virtually all day today travelling in the car, either to go to my mums to help her, take her up to the hospital (30 miles round trip), school runs, appointment for eldest...it hasn't stopped!

I'll be glad to see my bed tonight but no rest yet, leave to drop the boys off in 5 minutes to then go back to the hospital!
