Change of subject (apologies), but wondered if anyone caught 'Blood, Sweat and Luxuries' on BBC3 last night. It was the first in a series, about the production of gemstones and what people have to do to earn next to nothing to get luxury goods to the markets of Europe. Very interesting and worth watching if its on iPlayer. Next week is about leather goods production and future issues will also look at coffee and silicone chips.

OMG watching it now OMG OMG OMG. How many Oscars do I know? Plenty.

Maybe my kids...but son has def woken up now as he is working alongside us until Law school starts and he is really seeeing the reality of what we do...and he soon worked out who really makes the Mega £££. The one who controls the sale outlets. Bear in mind, we had been indie retailers for over 20 years and had to pack it in last year due to dodgy greedy games by the PUT who owned the building.......so are now selling within someone elses environment.

Makes me feell like I lost TBH....cos I did. I have gained but I also lost something at the same time.

Sue, hope all is well and that you will be able to get a rest in between everything else.

Hopefully, Dad's condition will settle once the Drs are fully on the case.

Is your brother available for back-up? One person can only do so much.

Well all, I'm off to see Son Of Dave & his superlative show tonight. Much looking forward to this!

The weekend will be spent in some lovely sunshine, with a bowls match, and also a lot of garden time!

We have just returned from the pub, where the village folk had a St George's Day lunch with bangers & mash and spotted !!!!!! pud, all washed down with real ale. Have a feeling there won't be too much work done this pm.......The main event is tonight, but we have an early start tomorrow morning, so decided to go to the dress rehearsal.:)

    Spring watch: 2 lambs born.

Quite a hard birth. Had to get vet in because of retained placenta, and the ewe seemed in distress. Basically, the stress of the birth, the milk isn't flowing from the ewe, so it seems we are in for hand feeding them.

Which is a bit of a b****r, to be honest.

But at least they all seem alive and well.

Never had to bottle feed lambs before. It's an experience. I'll give it that;)

Lambs...lambs are cute. Its such a shame they grow up. Lambs I can live with. I'm sorry it was tough, is the ewe otherwise ok now?

I've had to bottle feed lambing, so you have my commiseration and envy in equal measure;)

We're up to eight chicks now, of the dozen I set, and the markings are confusing us. The legbarrs are auto sexing...so I know what He is :( bu the others are coming out very odd markings, was convinced I had two boys earlier but not sure now. we'll see. I could have a go at vent sexing...I'm far from perfect at it though, and if we're going to be having a lot of poussin I think I'd rather wait to know and enjoy them for the time being.:o :)

I think so. We are keeping her in a pen so we can check her quite regularly. With hebrideans, they are a primative breed which tends to hide any discomfort, so we need to keep quite a close eye on her.

So far the lambs seem healthy and fine (cross fingers).

    Thanks :)

They are a bundle of cute, and in a way its a nice skill to have. Traditionally hebs were a milk bred, so often they were taken away from mum after the first day anyway.

Another thing I've never done (raised chicks... we get our chickens at point of lay, because we're a bit lazy :D ). I'm betting they are really cute right now:)
