bu the others are coming out very odd markings, was convinced I had two boys earlier but not sure now. we'll see. I could have a go at vent sexing...I'm far from perfect at it though, and if we're going to be having a lot of poussin I think I'd rather wait to know and enjoy them for the time being.:o

Oh I soooo miss Mewbie. I regard this as his forum.
The rest of us are mere satellites circling around his star.
I miss him too.
I have pics of the chicks on the phone, but just can't face the argument with the phone t computer connection tonight.Takes ages, conks out half way through and upsets computer. I don't know if phone software is always so cranky?
They are cute, but there is now the worry over who boys are.Always sad:(. But cute, cute doesn't describe, funny, curious...the one who is already a day old is hilarious, she? was lonel at first, but then resented the others in her space. But she's? now done a great job of showing everyone how to eat and drink.
Tweed boasts., from this small sample 100% fertility, but not yet 100% hatch...tbh, they can stop now and I'll be pleased as punch if half are girls and over the moon if lots and lots are.
Tomterm, buying PoLis,in my opinion, good value. Rearing chicks, unless its under your own broody hen, is fretful and so sad when yur favorite chicks show boy bits.so far apart from Cobar (number 2 was Barco, but not sure which that one is now
) ours will probably be unnamed until we know who is a boy. Its not easier if they don't have names though, not when you only have a few.
Number eight is still in the incubator, cheering her eggy siblings on. Her eggy siblings are still shrieking back. I'll never, ever get totally used to eggs that squeak.0 -
silver car:
set: put in the incubator....or could be under a chicken
markings: like...colouring. this sometimes indicated future colour, in some breeds the sex of the chick (autosexing) and sometimes breed.
Mine are all hybrids, bar one...who is a boy. So we're trying to guess whether the hybrides are girls and have the markings of leg bar girls, or...just the markings of the not autosexing breeds of their mums.
It could be like some reptiles, where the cold temperature has left me with an all male clutch! (clutch...the ''nest'' or incubator eggs).
Vent sexing, would be the answer. Basically, you turn them round, sex the poo out of them and look at their bits (chocken bits are inside.) But its not 100% fool proof even for experts...and for e its a long way off expert!0 -
Sue, hope all is well and that you will be able to get a rest in between everything else.
Hopefully, Dad's condition will settle once the Drs are fully on the case.
Is your brother available for back-up? One person can only do so much.
Well they have found the reason and a possible way forward....he has around 90% blockage of his carotid artery, so they are looking at doing an operation next Tuesday to clear it but first they have to decide whether the benefits outweight the risks.
Dad has come home tonight in the meantime but there have been improvements since yesterday...he had a ghost of a smile for the first time, his vague moments and blankness is diminshing and his walking is better than it was but not quite as steady as before.
As for my brother, he needs to work to pay his rent and child support and as he is self employed, any time he takes off means less money to pay his bills and he is already struggling. My sister unfortunately, lives a half hour drive away and she doesn't drive (although she does have a full license, she hasn't driven since she tapped a bridge about a month after she passed the test!).
Plus, I am the sensible responsible one in my parents eyes and I am always the first they call to sort things out or organise things.....I am the executor of their wills for that reason. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
