Tragic ! Is the moon in line with Jupiter or something?

Don't know when it will happen again, but probably not before the next scheduled return of Halley's Comet which is in the year 2061.

On subject of auto cashbacks with mobiles, it looks looks like 50 days to get it I think.

14 days from the return period
8 days for them to do something
28 days for it to be sent in post.

But if its sent on the last day of the 28 day period, it could take another 7 days.

So 57 days as a rough guide.

The slogans on their sight are misleading of course and if someone wanted to, they could complain to ASA for misleading advertising / wording.

an update: recieved my cheque today after recieving phone on 1/2/10 . There is no facility on the website to complain about auto cashback but there is a phone number I used on the letter with the phone 01923 804444 and they do have a customer services dept! and not an 0871 number
  • I found this forum when trying to see if anyone else has had same problems I have had with mobiles.co.uk I ordered my phone on 17/04/10 and am still waiting on my auto cashback £280. I have tried emailing them twice but no joy and I have not had anything to say when or if I will get my cheque?

    can anyone help please?

Send a LBA to cpw demanding immediate payment or you will sue. Don't waste time messing around playing their games or hell may freeze over before you get your cheque.
  • what is a LBA? cheers

    Hi Harrison,
    Welcome to the Forum
First of all Ben has not been on here since before you ordered your phone so do not expect a reply from him.
Theres loads of threads on here with problems regarding mobiles.co.uk one of the many failings of the company is they fail to respond to any emails etc etc
What MJ means by LBA is a Letter Before Action so you send them a letter by recorded del and say you are giving them 7 days to send a cheque before you file a claim against them.
Most of the time it seems to be the only way to get a response out of them !!!
    Good Luck

In order to do it correctly and make it convincing and authoritative you should do some research:-

    https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome

The best place to send such a letter is the registered office of cpw - the parent company.

On the assumption that you'd prefer not to have to actually commence proceedings I would give them 14 days rather than seven - there's absolutely no chance of this lot responding to a letter that quickly, since it'll be 2-3 days (at least) before they even receive it and you've already had a dose of how much they actually care about their own customers (even new ones). To give yourself the best chance of a positive response I'd email a copy of the letter to Mobiles.co.uk - that is likely to provoke a "so sorry - not like us" response - well, maybe not THAT apologetic. Ok, ok - more likely to come up with power cuts because of so many people watching the World Cup, staffing shortages because of holidays, people off because of sickness due to the hot weather... or perhaps so many "happy" customers they are swamped - ok again, too many chickens crossing the road... Anyhow, they will then delay it by stating the cheque has been or will be issued/despatched BUT will take up to another 28 days to reach you etc etc.; don't put up with that load of MoBULL either. Respond with a "if it ain't here within the 14 days I will immediately commence legal procedings since you have already broken the t&c of my contract with regard to the payment timescale foro this money" (but don't use "ain't"!).

Don't forget to add that should it be necessary to issue proceedings you will add all allowable legal costs and statutory interest.
  • Is Ben no longer using MSE?

I've just spent ages googling and searching MSE to read all about the cashback, got myself all scared that I've been scammed or wont send the right bill at the right time... so was very pleased when I saw Ben's posts, however I just wrote a very long pm to him to find that he's not accepting messages?! Now even more worried I'm not going to get anything back.

Are there any other mobiles.co.uk representatives on here I could message? Thank god for this forum!

eta: oh and like everyone else, I've tried emailing but only seem to be getting automated responses.
