At the risk of covering old ground for the 15th time:

    1) Payments, be they autocashback or cashback claims, are approved and the payment file sent to Finance at CPW
    2) Cheques then have to be authorised, reconciled, requested from the Secure Printer
    3) Secure Printer does a cheque run (we're talking about 10,000 cheques at a time - not "popping a cheque in the post to a friend")
    4) Cheque is sent via, iirc, UKMail as 2nd-class equivalent (RM 2nd class has a 14-day delivery guarantee)

All of the above is how it takes up to 28 days to "send" a cheque, once Mobiles.co.uk have approved payment. Comparing the disbursement of millions of pounds via 10,000 cheques to writing and posting a cheque yourself isn't really like-for-like.

If there were a faster way, we'd use it. Long timescales help no-one. As there isn't a faster way, we're having to invent one from scratch (in the context of CPW processes) and if you've ever had to manage significant change within a large corporation on a process that carries so much financial risk you'd appreciate this isn't something that happens overnight.

Thanks for the feedback, and let's wait to hear from the OP.

    Regards,

I am the official company representative of Mobiles.co.uk. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

Strange then how Phones4u etc can actually get the cheque into their customers' hands only 2-3 weeks after the claim is received. They obviously live on another palnet where they actually do better than they say and don't make endless excuses blaiming everyone but themselves.

With respect Ben explaining why it takes so long for someone to receive a cheque from CPW does not detract from the above missleading statements on your website ;)
If you know it takes 21 days to approve and 28 days to go through the whole process why don't you just be honest and say so on the website ?

If you put 49 days instead of 21 you wouldn't get any where near the number of complaints you do about the length of time they take.

Remember the thread from the beginning of last week when the member was chasing one after 34 days ?
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=30433775&highlight=#post30433775

He was told even though the cheque had been returned undelivered he was told he would have to wait another 14/28 days for it ...why wasn't it just sent back out again straight away ?
It's not just about the money

I think we should wait for OP to post again with his success/failure of cheque receipt otherwise this thread will inevitable get closed down, as many of the others have.

Ben. I just had a thought. Surely you could make a few calls and tell me the actaul date the £260 cheque is due to be posted (you have my order number)
It is all very well quoting the 28, 15, 21 day rules, but I as a customer, require some feedback specific to me, instead of a generic response.

If its lost why not find out now and tell me, instead of waiting. As someone who works in public relations I would have thought/ expected that would have been a given.

However if you wait until your 'deadline' and then tell me its lost and I have to wait another 28 days - Well I really do not want to hear it.......

Just received an email from mobiles.co.uk advising to give it to the 16th March.
    I'll run with that.....

I think I will just follow my own advice and 'Chill' in the meantime : )

Thanks for keeping everyone informed. Looks like mobiles.co.uk kept to the timetable Ben has claimed in all his recent posts. It's just a shame that there is so much inconsistency on the web site and lack of knowledge in the CS team - when you can raise them that is - and that causes so much worry for customers.
